Right now, it looks impossible to separate religion from politics in Pakistan. Had Jinnah not died so early, we all could have seen an entirely different Pakistan than we see today. But then, 'Jo beet gayi, so baat gayi.'

I am becoming more and more anti Religious parties every day. IMO main reason for Pakistan is in a mess is because of the exploitation of Islam by the religious parties and their bigoted supporters. I can only repeat what Hafiz Shirazi said nearly 700 years ago about the bigotry of the Mullahs.

Sharaab haraam shumarand wa khoon hkalq halaal
Zihey tareeeqat wa millat zihaey shariat wa deen

Meaning that they forbid the drinking of wine but approve shedding of the blood of humanity. Praise to the religious path and nationhood, praise to the sharia and religion.

Despite GOP backtracking on amendment to the Blasphemy law, there was this strike! Why don’t these bigots call for a shutter down against SUICIDE Bombings?

Religous parties and their leaders r not angels just as the other parties, everybody try to rally their supporters for thier cuase. Total shutter down was observed in karachi (oh this karachi where a secular party is ruling) Calling pakistanies name just as these ( bigoted supporters ) is wrong.

Most of our problems is bcoz of our hypocrate politicians and all of them who were in power r educated from secular eduction system and r secular.

The govt. who's head called the promises or contracts r not quranic verses, who will trust their words do u?

These ppl saw this law is good they rallied the ppl behind them u feel suicide bombing r not good rally the ppl behind u who is stopping u ?

The govt and that stupid taseer is to blame for all this mess calling names to the law and meeting asia and freeing her on his own bypassing the judicial system.

She is not free they are appealing the ruling. The law is flawed to begin with. Besides it being inhuman and backward. Setting those two things aside it is also making it so anyone with a grudge can bring up charges against people they have disputes with. Then when it actually goes to the legal system you have mobs formed with the support of the extremist local mullah to make sure the family and person even if found not guilty is murdered. The Taliban also do the same thing.

If this was Turkey the Mullah would instantly stand trial for religious extremism and conspiracy to commit murder. Of course no such thing as a Mullah exists in our country thankfully and the Imams must go to government regulated schools before they can take their positions. Of course this is because every time one of those Zia types pops up in our politics we slap a ban on them.

It will never happen simply coz pakistan came into existence in the name of islam no matter what these few secularists try to interpret qaid or iqbal quotes. Islam can't be out of our lives how it can be out of politics

There is no space for moral high ground in dealing with islamic fanatics if you are trying to avoid your nation state from catastrophic failure and collapse.

Always it is the CONTENT of education, the ideas which inform that content, that is of utmost importance -- Pakistani madaress and Ulema are informed by ideas about governance, law and resulting societal harmony, best left in Arabia and other places bereft of learning and humanity.

But these Ulema exercise a right to protest and civil disobedience - a right they would deny on penalty of death to others -- does that speak volumes about the kinds of ideas that inform their "education"?

Those ulema r not angels have but collectively ppl believe in them and if not these ulema, deen would not have come to us neither our beutiful pakistan.
Our politician ( secular ) where did they get their CONTENT OF EDUCATION ( corruption , loot ,lies etc)

No zia followed the code of angrez sarkar when killing the palestinians order is order as a soldire he obeyed it.

Bay naziir stopped nawaz from ammending the law in 1991 as was stated in by the prime minister gilani in his book. I wonder what her CONTENT OF EDUCTION WAS ( oh i forgot she was in oxford).

This law was there before independence as i know

ANYHOW a country who came into existence by the name of islam, no one will accept someone abuses the same Prophet ( PBUM) and get away unharmed zia or somebody else this law was to be there sooner or later.

Note: since i know arabic a little i have seen many interviews of the plo leaders who were very active at that time ( farooq qaddoomi, shafiq alhoot etc ) they all accepted the palestinians were wrong in the days of black september ( this is what is was called)

A country that was created by the Quaid e Azam, whom the Islamicans called Kafir e Azam, in which Muslims and all citizens are now under threat by the ideas of a radical minority.

When will these ulema be the streets to protest calling Quaid e azam, kafir e Azam? Not until then, will a majority of Pakistanis see these ulema as anything other than a radical violent minority who deny all others the rights they seek for themselves.
