Latest news MMRCA suggests Order to be delayed until 2012 March.
Knowing indians can see it Sep 2012.
This means First delivery 18 months later = 2014.
License production starts 2015-2016 earliest.

COST $10BILLION TO $15 BILLION depending on winner.

MEAN TIME

Typhoon orders been reduced by partners in favour of F35 lightening

PAK FA 2nd plane ready for Testing...

INDIA IS ABOUT TO WASTE $15 BILLION on a 4 generation MMRCA when fifth generation is around the cornor.

ITS TOO LATE WE TOOK LONG TO MAKE MMRCA HAPPEN.

man even 5th gen will join its not mean you dont have 4th gen fighters and if india scrap it will be the bigest joke of aviation history. there is credibility and approach of india which will damage and next time no one take serious india in defense deals.

I would go with 50 affitional Mirage 2000-5 order taking fleet to 100.

stick to tejas programme ie 120 fighters mk1/mk2 by 2020#

260 su30mki & 60 mig29smt.

SPEND THE $10 BILLION ON PAK FA & START THE AMCA now that TEJAS has reached ioc.

$100m each with full weapons for typhoon /rafael is far too much.

in this case i see the real problem is IAF and INDIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY dont read your posts.hehehheheheheh they miss some thing great .lol

In one word: NO!

The future mix of IAF: an awesome combo of 4.5th gen fighters and 5th gen fighters is a formidable force comparable to ANY in the world.

ABingdon that awesome mix will cost $50 billion over 15 years

IMO not possible financially.

ONE PROJECT will suffer my bet PAK FA

You are correct, that is alot of money but as you say it is spread over 15 years (less tahn $4bn a year), right now the GOI may struggle to cover this but over a period of 15 yrs it shouldn't be a huge issue as the economy would also be growing at 9%+ so by then the economy would have more than doubled in size and the likely defence budget would probably be close to $100 bn so very achievable.

All the co have spent a hell lot of money on this it will make a living joke out of us for the years to come next time you need something companies shows you midle finger

I would say no, instead buy Gripen or F16 block 60. They are cheap and they are better, not to mention longer life since the fighter jet will be the first hand.

It will still take sometime to develop a 5th gen fighter. ADA has bet everything on MMRCA and FGFA. If something went wrong in these projects, i can't even speculate when will this fighter be developed because firstly no other country will help us (as very few countries have this capability) and even US had to spend 2-3 decades in the development of their 5th gen fighter.

Its good that both IAF and IN are supporting the project now and there seems to e no problem in funding. This time HAL ADA can show their true potential.

from my side it is a Big NO because

1:we will loose our credibility in front of our participant countries , and one of the prime focus of MMRCA is to achieve stragetic relation.. this will go off..
2:and dont forget.. our armed forces heavily depends on the spares and upgrades from MMRCA participants like for mirages,submarines,c-13,heavy lift choppers.. etc. , if we scrap MMRCA we cant guarantee how they will react on these upgrades
3:and most importantly... mmrca is supposed to replace our mig 27/jaguar in the future.. but considering the production capability of HAL it is not an easy target to achieve..
4:above all , all MMRCA is coming with best technology that aviation industry that can offer at present.. so it will create huge advantage over our neighbours....

so select the damn MMRCA ASAP and start induction by 2012....

MRCA was a foolish idea floated by IAF to begin with and Antony knows this. MRCA is not a priority for him.

If IAF has so much money, they should better fund and encourage R&D within Indian universities. IAF lacks long-term planning. What they need to show is, little more faith(and money) in Indian engineers and talent.

Nope. That's not how it works.

If India cancels the MRCA acquisition process, the most that will happen is, these companies will make huge hue and cry but nothing beyond that. Its Indian money and its business stupid. Period.

Also, there are ways to do this in proper manner IF India wants to. Everything is manageable, if you know how game works.

Are you shivering with 'awe and shock'?

MRCA is not end of life. Take a chill pill, buddy.

see i agreed MMRCA was not required.. but see this MMRCA is floated few years back , at that time there was no guarantee that 5th gen will be in IAF also LCA was also in bad shape.. considering the situation it was necessary to float MMRCA tender...

but scrapping MMRCA now .. like amost 10 years after tender.. it is abslolutely doesnt make sny sense to me
