What's new

Should India spend Rs 1000cr on a single fighter jet?

The price includes life cycle cost and price for ToT.

And the amount of 20 billion will be spread over several years.

This is just another deal which is a golden egg for Indian politicians and brearucrats. They will enjoy the fruits of this deal for another 20-30 years. First with the kickbacks they get, then while buying parts for manufacturing and then for the next 30 years while buying cheap spare parts for these planes. They will get free trips to France and there they will paint themselves like the French women.

When China bought Su-27, they opened it up and now they have an entire line of planes from j-11 to J-16. A smart move indeed. India on the other hand will keep signing contracts with full TOT but the output is "Baba ka thulla".

We are indeed one 82 IQ nation. Dream about world superpower? LMAO are you kidding me?? We are one coward nation. Instead of taking up challenging and complex engineering projects like fighter jets we run to foreigners for help even for basic nuts and bolts. Talk about self sufficiency?? We are a joke and that too a lame one.

You are just trolling

MKI deal didn't make you indigenous has I have Said Just Go and buy expensive jet almost all countries have rejected it because of its prize and only hope for French is India..... Milking India:tongue::crazy_pilot::pleasantry::omghaha:
you are just trolling, you dont know a jack about deal then....
your junk 17 has also not been bought by any country....:lol:,as i said China is just milking pakistani cow.....:omghaha::omghaha:
And when rafale will beat the shit out of your junk17,your pilots will refuse to fight and will surrender just like 1971.....:rofl:

I believe Kashmir issue from Pakistani POV is already over.

Militarily we do not have any advantage in Kashmir anymore.

And pretty much all of LOC (and especially the crossable points) have been walled, and wired up.

India should now treat Kashmir as its local issue and not Pakistani issue.

Buy these nice planes to project power against powers who are trying to push their way into Indian oceans.

Pakistan is no longer a threat. Even long range guns in India can cover most of Pakistani heartland.

So there is no point in buying expensive stuff so you can wrestle with Pakistan. That will be utter stupidity.

These are the ground realities.

I hope you understand.

by the way that was a immature response for immature point raised with points to poor people in our country.. Many people at both the end of the border are matured enough to know.. except for a few military establishment.. And as mentioned rightly by another member.. Rafale will face north and north east... except for a squadron that may face PAF... The reality is both of us dont consider our selves as a threat anymore like the way it happened in late 90's because of X factors.. we are having hard time with china already in all verticals.. we want to beat them ... diplomatically and economically without waging a war.. as that will grow both of us

Adding point... we are ready for a race with Pakistan also in economics and social developments...

Why not

The country has worked hard to earn this money from the West.

So now a tiny fraction (25 out of the 300 billion reserves) can easily be spent on these planes.

Nations build up defenses because this is how nations survive in the long run.

While I support this acquisition

I say peace to you all.
shouldn't you as a pakistani be against india making their forces modern? because these jets are purchased to be used against pakistan.

are you sure your not najam sethi?

It is your dream.... that all Rafale will face Pakistan.. you must have realised.. Most of the MKI are not directed against Pakistan but will be against china.. Same goes to Rafale.. a squadron might face.. but not all.. We have sufficient deterrent in form of Mig, Mirage fully directed at your border

if they are for china then you better buy another 1,000 pieces because test wouldn't last more then few days against a super power like china.

you need 1,000 more raffles to even inflict little damage to china.these 126 raffles not going last more then a few days lol.

China will have hard time to bring their airforce via tibet... They have tactical advantage with army... So you dont need to worry about IAF.. they know better and plan better

.No Rafale is superior than any chinese plane except j20 and j30.....
And for j20 and j30 we will have pakfas.....
Besides that we have geographical advantage....
although i agree that rafale is not a good deal.....

You have your Migs , already and Sukhoi what are they for , acrobatics

Imagine how many goats or chickens can be raised in farms which give poultry or milk or other products for consuption.

So y is ur country buying arms?? Might as well raise goats and chickens......

Technology is never transfered that easily.

There is billions of dollars worth investment both in dollar and strategic terms.

As a result manufacturers will never give away it.

Whoever talks about TOT by paying market price per unit, is simply a fraud.

Tech is either developed
or jointly developed.

peace

Mr. history shall I remind you that those key technologies were pre-requisite for all those firms which participated in MMRCA competition.

We are not under arms embargo. If we betray the sellers, many nations may decide to sell us weapons.

China has no choice.

Instead of taking up challenging and complex engineering projects like fighter jets we run to foreigners for help even for basic nuts and bolts

Then what is Tejas?

Additional Rafales will follow and we may see 190-200 (there is clause for buying additional 63 Rafales) being inducted in IAF.

From what I have heard 2 squadrons will be deployed on western border and 2 on eastern border.

"The plans is to base two squadrons of the MMRCAs in Western Air Command (WAC) bordering Pakistan and two squadron in the Eastern Air Command (EAC) bordering China,” the official added.

Ambala to station first squadron of MMRCA fighters

Very surprised this is actually happening.

Way too much money...

But good god s great addition to s very powrful military already.

Strike capability is awesome with s incredibly sophisticated ew suites to jam and fool radars and sams.

But its overkill for use against pakistan

People Need to understand that 4th Gen fighters are not going Anywhere, infact they will complement 5th gen fighters till well into 2050s, just as 3rd gen fighters have complemented 4th gen fighters since last 30 yrs in most of the worlds air forces
infact even some 3rd Gen fighters will remain in service till 2030
Last Batch of 47 Jaguars IS inducted between 2001-2008 , will be retired en mass in 2030, while 90 odd older versions inducted in 1980s will be retired between 2022-26
USAF hopes to fly some 396 F-15C/D/E until atleast 2035 with 200 remaining in service even in 2040, While it will keep 220 F-16 Blk 40 in service till 2030 and 380 Blk 50/52 in service till 2035

The Last Su30 MKI will retire in 2047 from Indian Service, while Last Rafale will retire in 2055
I expect PAF to keep their f-16s till 2050 atleast while JF17 will remain much beyond that
