For all of that to achieve, Saudi Arabia has to become at-least a Tier-2 Industrial country. So far it is just a Tier-3 which is dependent on foreign tech and machinery to produce finished goods. And foreign technical expertise up to an extent. What it needs to do is evolve socially and establish a a culture of mutual respect, tolerance, education and academic excellence. I am not hopless that Saudi Arabia will not achieve its ambitions but the 2025 deadline is too short..Wishing Saudi Arabia and its people all the best..Happy National Day.

First step would be to establish a political system which awards the leader ship based on merit and approval rather than line of succession to keep traitors like Fahad out of possibility to hijack the country for serving their Zionist master.

From 2005-2011 its been only six years since the curse named Fahad died a miserable death and King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz succeeded to throne. But in this short period, Kingdom has leaped forward 20 years. Saudi Arabia has gone leaps from the initial threat of sanctions and invasion post 9/11 and the fear of Iraq war spill over to becoming 9th most stable economy in the world.

Perhaps, Pakistan can learn a lot from Saudi Arabia and its King.

Good luck to Saudi Arabia. It certainly has the money and potential to propel itself to great heights. Saudis have to start doing things themselves. Hiring foreigners will only work as long as the oil flows.

It's good to see the repeated emphasis in the article on developing the human potential in Saudi Arabia. That is encouraging.

PS. And there's no need to bring Iran into this thread. Hopefully both countries can do well. Dare we hope that the Arab/Persian rivalry will shift from the military sphere into economic and scientific one-upmanship???

A good economy is not that one which has more spending potential,but the one that saves more,has reduced wastage and more avenues of recycling.Neither China nor India is good at this and definitely not USA or KSA.

UAE is probably the perfect example when it comes to wastage.

The Europeans,on the other hand are good at this.The degree of reflux is high,pollution is greatly reduced.Come to think of it,the rate of pollution in the Western European rivers have actually reduced since the time of Second World War.

KSA is blessed with enormous potential in the form of oil, just make sure that you spends the oil revenues wisely. Instead of funding mosques and Wahabi ideology invest in educational institutions. You can educate the entire Islamic world if you want. Even poor Cuba has a Medical College that provides free education to deserving candidates from all over the world. KSA can start hundreds of these types of Medical Colleges.

Better. a common GCC currency but it's greatest challenge is if we were still dependent on Oil then if Oil prices are high food is cheap if it is low we will starve to death.....

So moving away from Oil is the only obstacle in it's path.

Any update on the talks regarding the differences between UAE, Oman and KSA regarding the H/Q of the GCC central bank?

If i am not mistaken that was the only or the main hurdle why the plans did not realize at the last moment.

Let's get back down to earth
KSA's goal should be to beat Iran's gowth which has been under sanctions for 3+ decades and exports 1/4 of the amount of oil KSA exports. You guys can't even beat Iran but you talk about stupid crap written in that article.

here are the GDP growths for Iran and KSA over the past 15 years. Iran in blue, KSA in red and data is from the World Bank. As you can see KSA can't even beat sanction hit Iran even though you guys export 4 times more oil than us.

Iran would had easily had one the best economies on this planet, along with one the best military if the shah was still around, but the argument the mullas show is that iran now is very self sufficient and detached from the west while the shah was the opposite. iran always has a bright future regardless of our leaders..our people are great and smart.
