That's because Bakhmut really is of little strategic value.

Putin was on television with a map of 18 century. He then declared “hey, Ukraine did not exist”. That’s Russia world’s view, present national borders count little. Interesting to note, the map is in french.
Soon he will declare Russians originated from dinosaurs then he will say “the world is mine”. Putin believes he is god.

1. They give a lot of business to debris removers to remove the rubble from all the destruction.
2. They they give a lot of business to their construction companies to rebuild the city (which the funds frozen by EU will pay for)
3. They have to bribe or force march the original residents to move there. Or alternatively all the west haters in Africa and Asia that have inspired to go live in Russia
4. Finally a well deserved summer break for Wagner after the chefs obvious insubordination and admission of dead only to be 20K
Sounds like about as well thought out as rest of the events orchestrated by Russia over the last year

Whatever Ukraine was trying hard to defend is now GAME OVER.
Therefore the next phase of war has begin marking a milestone.

What milestone? Russia achieved very little, and what they did achieve was done mostly due to a mercenary group because the Russian army is filled with incompetent officers at every level.

Besides Ukraine was named on this french map and Putin didnt give much thought about Sanct Petersburg not being on the map and the area belonged to Sweden.

He saying that the American citizen died while fighting against Wagner, while the Turkish citizen was bombed by the Ukrainian army while he is with his girlfriend in a building, and they could not get his girlfriend out from under the rubble. He says the body of the Turkish citizen will be sent to his country.
He doesn't say anything about what they will do with the body of the US citizen. He'll probably be buried there.
