win win for Pakistan.

India opts for Russia then Pakistan will get more western assistance cause they need market...

India opt for western plane and Russia opens up for more...

Pakistan's market is too minscule... I would call that article rheotric especially since it doesnt mention any names, Indian Expenditure on both Military and Civilian side are huge, It practically dwarfs pakistan. I am sorry this one is a loosing battle for u

They need three decades to produce a downgraded Mirage 2000H... They need decades to buy Hawk trainer.... They need years to buy MRCA...

Dream on buddy.

India might have more cash but it is not unlimited... Surely not as much as China...

The point was about spending money. That the market in India is much larger than the arms market in Pakistan. How is your post relevant to that?

Whatever India does... It is not a global power...

Who said it was in the first place? It will be in the future, certainly not now, and not in the near future as well. And its not me who's saying that, its the economists who work in big instituitions.

Why the hell is this even relevant to the topic? Is this some kind of inferiority complex comming out from you? Or is this just spite?

So it is not a big spender... It took decades to buy MRCA... Oops, still not bought.

If we had to remember how long it took to get Ghorskov then...

Me inferiority :). Naaah. Just playing with your nationalistic pride. And to be honest. It is extremely easy to hurt you cause with that many failed military programs there is no running for you...

India's defence purchases are getting delayed agreed as India does not see immidiate threats. However India has already signed defence contracts with Russia for range of weapons so Russia is assured of them.
Russia knows Mig-35 is contender for MRCA, India by delaying the signing of MRCA if can influence its sellers with its opinion then there is nothing wrong in that anyways India does not need to spend extra money on that.

just found this news while surfing to see whether the deal on mig-35 is done or not dont know but found this.
"Mirage 2000s Withdrawn As India's MRCA Fighter" are out of the race.

Mirage 2000s Withdrawn As India's MRCA Fighter Competition Changes

Mirage 2000v5: Au Revoir
It's the biggest fighter aircraft deal since the early 1990s," said Boeing's Mark Kronenberg, who runs the company's Asia/Pacific business. DID has offered ongoing coverage of India's planned multi-billion dollar jet fighter buy, from its early days as a contest between Dassault, Saab, and MiG for a 126 plane order to the possible entry of American competitors and even EADS' Eurofighter. What began as a lightweight fighter competition to replace India's shrinking MiG-21 interceptor fleet appears to have bifurcated into two categories now, and two expense tiers.

That trend got a sharp boost recently, when Press Trust of India (PTI) reported a surprise pullout by the CEO of Dassault on the eve of the RFP. The Mirage 2000v5 will no longer be fielded for the India deal, despite the fact that India already flies 40 Mirage 2000Ds and its senior officials have touted standardization as a plus factor. So, what's going on?

In a word, lots. The participants are changing, India's view of its own needs is changing, and the size and nature of the order may be changing as well... (updated Nov 10, 2006).

Its old news, France is closing down the production lines for Mirage 200xx planes.
Instead France is offering Rafael for MRCA.

can pakistan take advantage of the closing down the production lines for Mirage 200o,s planes and buy them with a transfar of technology what are the chances bisides pakistan needs to expand PAC kamra and establish an aircarft engine building even say gets the capability to produe a locally build engine say lets start with a 2nd genaration fighter aircraft eg pt-6 gradually improves to the the f-7 standard atleast we will have a base thats the most important thing and then its all hard work expansions reserach etc etc infact we should have done this long time ago but its a necesity now no doubt about it and i would say lets just go for it locally build aircraft engine is a must imho.

Mirage 2000 is oold! Why would you want to buy Mirage 2000's now?
India is upgrading its Mirage 2000's to Mirage 2000-5Mk 2 along with customization that includes putting some components of Rafale in the Mirage. It was a bloody costly upgrade.

Mirage 2000 with Rafale components is not much improvement either... The plane is no longer in production... But, since India even flies 60 and 70 era mig21 it should ne not a big problem.

and F-7, Mirage 3/5 would be, F-16 A/B's would be

With boycot like Pakistan had to cope with you cannot achieve much more. But wait till 2010... Then you will have atleast a decent tainer called Hawk... Why ? Cause you cannot produce a trainer like K8?

K 8 is not worth mentioning as a good platform
