Replacement for Rheinmetall MG3

A lot of countries still use MG3 as primary MG, its been around since ww2, also our Army trust the weapon.

We need to do R&D at local level to produce guns locally (modern and according to our customized need).

To do that we need high quality researchers in the field of materials and metallurgy, and precision engineering tools first. Other it will be just copy paste, like the POF is doing right now.

For decades Pakistan Armed forces are using the Rheinmetall MG3 as their Primary Mounted Machine Gun, its been used in all branch of Armed forces along with Paramilitary forces like FC ( KPK / Baluchistan ) and Rangers ( Sindh/Punjab ) . But I wonder if PA has any plans to replace them with any other better or more modern Machine guns ? ? what could be other possible Options which PA can acquire and locally produce .. will be it a huge burden on our Defense Budget like replacing the main Assault rifle ?

We have an existing thread for this which at the end went nowhere.
The issue was funds and feet dragging by key players.

Feet dragging ?? Bottom line $$ the whole country needs $$ and military is no exceptions

Elect nawaz and Zardaris and will end up in toilet soon now the new GOVT has to figure out a miracle
