Razzaq cleared for Pakistan World T20 call-up

LONDON: All-rounder Abdul Razzaq was on Wednesday given the all-clear to replace injured Yasir Arafat in Pakistan's World Twenty20 squad, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed.

The 29-year-old Razzaq cut his ties with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) earlier this month and was cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play for the national team.

Fast bowler Arafat suffered a hamstring injury during Pakistan's 48-run defeat against England in their opening match on Sunday.

Razzaq, who played 46 Tests and 231 one-day internationals for Pakistan, joined the unofficial ICL as a protest against his omission from the squad selected for the inaugural World Twenty20 in South Africa in 2007.

The PCB barred all the 23 players who signed for the rebel league from domestic and international cricket as the ICL was not recognised by the ICC and Board of Control for Cricket in IndiaRazzaq cleared for Pakistan World T20 call-up - GEO.tv

absolutely correct salman butt should be out of the team as soon as possible he is not a taylor made for t20 in my opinion nasir jamsed should get a chance he is very good player n good opener.. very happy to see razzaq back hope he play for odi also.

Yes, I think the same, Nasir Jamshed is a great player and will prove to be useful,too. I am sure abt it! He is young, talented and has good stats so take him in the team if you get the chance!

Best decision PCB has made to get razzzaq back.
Pakistan team should now try to injure salman butt and get imran nazir back.
Salman butt has dropped 5-6 catches,has fielded poorly and cant bat properly.
Imran nazir is a t20 player plus a great fielder.

Fully agree, we shouldn't expect anything big from him as he isn't one of the big cricketers for me, he is particularly better than many players of our squad but not the best. An Afridi in top form would be real boost and unpayable but unfortunately he isn't making big scores in the last while

Pakistan need to play all sports, especially football/soccer on a world class level. You want to play with the world, you have to play football and you have to play it beautifully - criket has it's place, it just is not the game of the people, more of a upper class type of thing

With the corrupt officials in sports ministries and in other bodies, Pakistan can not porduce world class athletes or sportsmen at all. This kind of decisions, to oust a player and then request him/her to rejoin, do nothing but weaken the teams and demoralize the players. So the sports' organizational structure need to be revotionalized in Pakistan. Look how Abdul Qadir has to quit PCB.
