Al-Zakir's sentiment may be indicative of the fact that not all residents of East Pakistan wanted to completely break off from Pakistan, though almost all wanted greater autonomy (given the results of the elections).
Rightly said AM.....And this probably is true for a fair share of Bengali's.....
But look at it this way.....Wouldnt you feel strange about a Pakistani criticizing partition or challenging the validity or need to form a seperate state of Pakistan...right or wrong is a different thing....
But I dont feel majority of Pakistani's would voice such an opinion or at least based on what I have seen on this forum regret such a move.....nor take kindly to a person that holds views of a united India based on pre-partition boundaries....
Hence it is surprising to see that a Bengali....feels this way or regrets about a decision made under those circumstances by his/her forefathers....30 years past...
Obviously coming from an Indian...its a moot point...nothing more than an observation...
