Oh really kashmir wanted to join pakistan?HAHAHA have any proof?Evidence?Let me state why kashmir did not want to join pakistan.Sheikh Abdullah's state visit to Pakistan in 1964 was seen with a great aspirations in Pakistan, it looked like now Kashmir will be resolved and in Pakistan's favour because pak politicians thought Sheikh being in Indian jail for 11 years will now turn to them.According to pro Pakistan kashmiri K H KHURSHID (jinnah's typewriter from 1944-47)Sheikh was still not changed despite the shabby treatment he recieved at Nehru's hands. AYUB KHAN, BHUTTO were all surprised when Sheikh offered a confederation between India & Pakistan, so all of pakistan's hopes of now attaining Kashmir went as they banked on Sheikh's opposition to India, though Sheikh was not as much of pro India as he was in 1947 but he still held pakistan in same contempt as in 1947, he showed no sign whatsoever to turn towards Pakistan. Furthermore Nehru's death in Delhi aroundabout that time halted the developments of 1964 (I very much doubt pakistan would've acheived much anyway).
In Pakistan your military dictatorship was dismayed at this halt at the same time they felt it is right time for them to start infiltration into Indian held Kashmir, as India was in a weaker position after the events Indo-Sino war 3 years earlier(1962) and now death of nehru. Pakistanis had an obsession of being a martial race in front of Indians, they also started propagating One Pakistani is equal to 10 Indian (in real term of one muslim & 10 Hindus were being used).Your army's suceess at RANN OF KUTCH skirmishes further mobilised the belief Indians have no stomach to fight, so pak army launched OPERATION GIBRALTAR, was designed to infiltrate and mobilise local kashmiris to stand up against India and launch guerilla war. This time you pakistanis were banking on local kashmiri population, it all went awry when the same locals informed Indian government there are large number of Pakistani infiltrators in Kashmir. India captured most of pakistan's infiltarators and as usual pakistan denied any involvement in OPERATION GIBRALTAR.Proves beyond doubt that kashmir did not want to join pakistan and remain in India, while jammu and ladakh areas have always been pro India.
