Considering the players and officials have A+ protocol , not sure what the fuss is all about ?

There is no logical sense not to go considering there will be Military and Rangers and police force to stop any trouble makers

Considering KP is a star attraction , was expecting him to lead from front

Hopefully players will reconsider

But still a great first cricketing encounter in first Semi
All the negative media reports plus the recent bombings will scare any one off ! Even all the commentators and the broadcasters backed out :(:(:(:(:(

Oh well I guess we will see some local talent emerge in Final nice ocassion for younger players to shine

But lets hope the players will reconsider , as they are 100% safe with so much security promised for the event and players

Certainly excited to see local Grounds with local fans

Sharjah: Foreign cricketers playing for the Quetta Gladiators have refused to play the final of the Pakistan Super League to be held in Lahore's Qaddahi Cricket Stadium, according to Geo News.
Kevin Pietersen, a key player of the Gladiators, has left UAE shortly after his team beat Peshawar Zalmi to qualify for the final. Luke Wright, Tymal Mills have also excused themselves from playing in Pakistan. The final is scheduled to be held on March 5.
I'll pick that up in London tomorrow. Bye bye Dubai! Your weather was but the golf was . #FamilyTime

Cricket authorities decided to hold the final of second edition of the Pakistan Super League in Lahore in an effort to restore international cricket in the country which was dealt a blow by militant attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009.
It's with a heavy heart I will not be coming to Lahore. I have a young family and for me a game of cricket is just not worth the risk 1/3

I'm sorry as I know how much it means to you all and hopefully in the future the safety will not be in doubt to come play there. 2/3

Pakistan has recently witnessed a surge in militant violence as deadly bombing in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed over 100 people and injured many others.
The decision to hold the final was taken at a meeting chaired by Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz said foolproof security would be ensured for the PSL. He directed the cabinet committee to make best arrangements and review security and other measures on daily basis. He said he would personally monitor the progress regularly.
Shahbaz said the decision was taken in best interest of the country and appealed to the nation to support the government efforts for the success of the final. He ordered the implementation of the designed security plan at every cost and said an effective monitoring system should be evolved for the purpose.
Shahbaz said no conspiracy of enemy would be allowed to succeed, adding that nefarious designs of terrorists and their facilitators would be foiled jointly. “We will come up to the expectations of the masses,” he hoped.

The final won't be the same without foreigners ! :( Just praying nothing untoward happens on the D day or it may spread panic among people ! It will be difficult to manage thousands of people ! :pakistan:

That's fine.
Enough local players for final. Nevermind the foreigners.
Their embassies and foreign offices may not have allowed them to take part in final , which is fine, not their fault.

I am sorry but they are cowards, if anything, the risk is for thousands of people trying to enter the stadium and the security forces deployed for their protection. The players have no risk at all.

Frankly speaking, it doesn't matter. The local players are more that enough to pull in crowds and interest of local population. We should not worry about foreign players not playing in Lahore. What we should do is to root out the root-causes behind this, and that effort is continuing.

The future looks brighter.

No bro they are not cowards ! It's OUR fault when we promised state head level security to srilankan team too but what happened we all know ! Read luke wrights tweet offcourse they will be worried with all the bomb blasts and negative media reporting !

Security provided to Sri Lankan team was not presidential level, there was just one police mobile escorting the bus. Back then we were still "confused" about whether we are are fighting the war for American or for our own survival.

I have replied to Luke Wright on twitter, i am sure it will not matter but i said what i felt like.

Enough is enough, our players performed very well. We must play final in Lahore.

Pakistan is not a third world country. Those who want to come they are welcome and those who do not we respect their decision.

Next time we should play any international home series in Pakistan or there is no need to play is uae.

NO SIR it is there right to take such a decision!!

We here in Pakistan close our schools and institutions when there is a threat, who can be expect them to come and play cricket? To be honest, it will be an act of kindness if some of them do come to play here. The situation might not be that bad but it is media that portrays the picture and we all know how it does that.

Plus you also need to ask yourself this, is it all worth the risk? Do you think that a PSL (PAKISTAN super league) final in Lahore will be enough to convince Australia or South Africa or England that every thing is good here and that they should come and play here, bringing back true international cricket? I dont think so!!! On other hand if anything goes wrong even slightly it will be BYE BYE for decades. It is just like that Zimbabwe tour. With Zimbabwe visiting Pakistan (with all due respect to the country and its people) it was never enough of a certificate to convince Australians or the English to come and play here as well. However a small blast OUTSIDE the ground irrelevant to the match was what made the headlines!

Most importantly, my point is that we are conducting an operation country wide, we are fighting terrorism since years and are hopefully at the last stage of uprooting this evil for good. A wait for two three more years wont hurt that much.

This is all a personal opinion and anyone may disagree!

I am also not decided on this as many Pakistanis aren't and still i am a bit confused but i also think not holding it would give a negative image too people will again think of Pakistan as a dangerous country as it was in 2009-11 it's a really tough choice!

Before the wave of incidents in February 2017, whole of 2016 was considered to be the most peaceful year since.... 2005 i guess. If you think an average man is affected by these incidents, imagine how demoralizing it is for the people who have dedicated their lives to prevent them, and have seen their comrades perish while doing it. How demoralizing it is for them when a very senior politician stands up and says that he does not trust them? So yes, if our own people are not trusting our security then why would foreigners trust us?

Yes it is true that a cracker burst in Shahdara during the match will be considered as an attack on PSL, however i am willing to bet my life that our LEA's are good enough to protect the cricket fans and our guests. I don't care if cricket is not played in Pakistan for the next century but it is important to give a message to our enemies that we are not afraid.
