Pakistan defies US, honors Iran gas deal

Solar is very expensive - i think we can't afford it at this point. However we should speed up our work on coal and also start building small and large dams which are very much over due and will serve dual purpose.

Yes, solar is expensive, but gradually we should start looking into it since it is a much safer form of energy and can be used almost anywhere. Imagine if every house and building had a set of solar panels on the roof. During the day, solar energy, during the night coal and other sources.

I think we should wait for more efficient and cheaper solar panels.

PS: We are getting off topic :smokin:

I have said it before and again: THE litmus test of Pakistan's alienation from America would be Pakistan's ties toward Iran. They are inversely proportional!

We may be getting off topic here: But...BTW, it is hypocritical of some of us Pakistani bloggers to put every blame on Zardari and when he does manage some good then it must be 'the army' making Zardari do the good. As far as I know, nothing can't be blamed on Zardari except charges of corruption from the 90's; those were 'kickbacks'--much worse were done during the 80's by the Pakistani right-wingers in the name of Zia's Jihad for which there is not sound?!
ALSO: Zardari was very categorical in challenging the Baluch nationalists during Zardari's speech on 27th December in Garhi Khuda Bux. According to Zardari, the Baluch nationalists will have to come to under a 'federation' and face the music. Zardari said that he (Zardari) was imprisoned for 12 years (exaggeration--may be 9) and that the PM Gilani for 6 years but they never gave up on Pakistan.
We do disservice to Pakistan by falling into the trap of the right-wing media's snares. Kick out Zardari using democratic means. But don't make him a martyr. He deserves to be kicked out because of incompetence--but I have not seen any evidence to call him a 'traitor'.

^^^^^ you are right brother we have a bad habit in eulogising and demonising our leaders and we should take everything in its place.

The first thing Zardari did when he came into power was to ask IPP his share for ten years, as his previous government gave them the contracts and IPP stopped producing electricity as their payments were stop.
Second rental power projects were all fraud. third .......... hundred ........

May be. But then the courts in Pakistan are the free-est ever. Approach them.

Anyway, you can look up Zardari's speech on 27th November in Garhi Khuda Bux. The way he goes out of his way to challenge the Baluch nationalists is certainly not the words of a 'traitor'. Perhaps a 'corrupt' person. And for that he should pay a price.

Anyway, good move by Pakistan. I always thought Pakistan's place lies in its neighborhood. Screw America or Saudi Arabia or whoever if they come in the way.

That is an excellent comment. Pakistan's political system must evolve to allow orderly changes of civilian authority by fair elections.

A bit off-topic, but CNG kits ruin and greatly shorten engine life. I discourage many people from using it, but we definitely need to find a better alternative.

I know this is a bit off topic but Pakistan has nuclear knowledge why they dont go for Nuclear energy? Is it a cost issue?

Nuclear energy is cheap, safe, reliable and environment friendly. However the initial capital costs are cumbersome. But Pakistan is heading towards more Nuclear plants.

Bold part is not valid now

It is still valid, provided due care is taken in location, design and operation. Look at France as an example of how to do nuclear energy right.

But still it's dangerous - you can't safeguard against natural disaster. I will be happy to pay little more than taking risk - specially in Pakistan where govt. even can't help people in floods.

You make a good point about natural disasters and the ability to deal with them in Pakistan.

If you think this mate you are deluded, i have first hand knowledge of family friends getting away with murder by utilising $$$$$. The Pakistan courts can be bought, you just need pockets deep enough.
