Pakistan defies US, honors Iran gas deal

. . .
Good decision from GoP, but still it's too late should have done in 2008 when they joined the government.

Also, Pakistan should stop depending upon fossil base energy sources. And start working on Nuclear, wind and solar energy which is cheap as well as future of the World.

.
Every thing is on track , we should also send in some JF17 thunders to Iran as a gesture of our friendship ...

We could take few helicopters and more electricity and gas

.
Construction work on the pipeline in Iranian area was completed. And on remaining portion that was to be constructed in Pakistani area the survey has been completed.

I hate to say it, but this is just smoke and mirrors from Zardari. My guess is this 'survey' will go on for another five years (like the Lahore Metro or Karachi Circular Railway or ...)

The Iranians already finished their side. Was the Pakistani side sleeping all this time?

. .
Will anyone praise Zardari for standing upto the US ? I don't think so.

No, No one gonna do that. Either they will say ''Zardari is doing it because US want's him to'' or ''There must be benefit for zardari personally'' or ''zardari is doing because elections are coming'' or ''zardari want's to impress us'' or ''zardari will never let it complete,it's just a dream'' or ''zardari is doing under Army's pressure'' or ''zardari is doing because he came to know that IK will do it when he comes to the power'' or ''zardari is doing this because he want's to take that gas home''. Typical Pakistan.

In reality, it is likely that little natural gas will be exported to Pakistan, even when the pipeline is operational, unless Iran can import more gas from Turkmenistan.

Why ? Because Iran's production and consumption of natural gas are almost equal. At times, Iran cut natural gas supplies to Turkey, because it did not have enough surplus. And to get that surplus, they had to import from Turkmenistan.

Of course, the potential is huge. But Western companies have boycotted plans to develop Iran's gas fields, and the growth in production is likely to remain low, with current sanctions in place.

Although it is a good move (long term), don't raise your hopes up, yet !
