Substitution of these words will surely deal with all our issues, terrorism has been defeated, inflation is non-existent, our per capita income is trumping Sweden's and general well being is at its highest. Now we can truly devote ourselves to the more pressing issues that only our esteemed Mullahs can find the answer to, such as if DNA is suitable testimony in a rape/paternity case or if the husband needs to consult his first wife before his second marriage (These are actual issues being discussed at the CII).

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday approved a summary prohibiting the English translation of Islamic terms, which means that the word “masjid” cannot be substituted with the English word “mosque”.

Sacred Arabic names and words like Allah, masjid, sala’at and Rasool are now forbidden to be translated in English as God, mosque, prayer and prophet, respectively, as per the summary approved by the Prime Minister. Religious scholars have appreciated the government’s move and stressed the need to implement the decision.

Prominent cleric Mufti Naeem said that the decision is commendable but it should be enforced in letter and spirit. He lauded the Prime Minister for taking the decision in the holy month of Ramzan.

Mufti Muneebur Rehman also lauded the move, saying some religious terms and names are best described in Arabic and they couldn’t be translated in English.

Its a very complex attempt at explaining the obvious, that its a preposterous claim that only lives on through the never ending stupidity of our religious class that possesses no real knowledge of religion.

Let me tell him what, ban the taqreer before jummah in Urdu as well. Make it in Arabic so that no one can understand what it means just like we read Quran but don't understand it.

Most Muslims attend Madrassahs where true Islamic education is preached. Not all Madrassahs are like the type you've mentioned. There maybe Madrassahs even in ur own country. How many Madrassahs do you know??

Finally, Madrassah is an Arabic name for "SCHOOL"

I don't see how this is such a big deal that this had to be posted in a separate thread. There are other nations out there who practice this today. Some may or may not be government supported but there are national agreements on this.

For example, from Hindi and Sanskrit, you have words like Pandit, Vedic, Guru, etc, which are actually a part of the English dictionary. Pandit was never replace by a term like Pand-Temple or Temple-Head, etc,etc.

Similarly, modern American English has a lot of words from Hebrew. In fact, its impressive how words like Toe-Dah, Rabi, Mazal Tov, etc, are used in daily Western life, outside of just Jewish neighborhoods. So they've done an amazing job at keeping their culture and Hebrew alive, and have influenced other languages too, very peacefully.

Similarly, if the Pakistanis or the Thai or the Taiwanese feel like they want to use their own cultural or language terms, instead of English, they are more than welcome to do so. This is the beauty of diversity, you can live the way you want to, just DON'T enforce your belief system upon others on gun point like the basterds from ISIS and OBL's people have been doing.
As long as there is peace, no one's human rights get violated, no human suffers and there is no violence, any nation or country has the right to do whatever the hell they want to do, irrespective of how idiotic it may sound to others.
