The language of Iran is not Farsi, it is Persian. It is like calling Spanish, Espanol. Also, interestingly enough, before British rule of India, much of western India and Pakistan spoke Persian, then the British banned Persian and made Urdu the official language to curb the influence of Iran in that area.
