Pakistan-A real market for the Mirage 2000-9 ?

Not going to happen. The Mirage 2000-9 is the latest aircraft designed by Dassault, even the Armee de l'Air do not operate it. The French government convinced the UAEAF to refuse PAF pilots to operate and instruct on the Dash 9s. The UAEAF will never sell these aircraft to Pakistan unless Dassault comes in, removes some of the sensitive equipment and then facilitate the deal between UAE and Pakistan.

Pakistan's military relationship with UAE is not any better than Pak-US. In order words, it's unproductive and inconsequential at best. As always, Americans and French are always involved in what goes on. Saudi's are a little better and so are Qatari's.

Even if PAF re evaluates the jets as is strongly suggested in this thread, would it make sense to buy these Mirages knowing fully well the enemy against whom these planes will be used has extensive knowledge of this platform?

The reason you want to buy these planes is that with your superior training and capabilities---you want to take out the pride of the enemy----the M2K's----you need to shatter the psyche of a larger enemy---you take it out with his quipment---you smash his pride---you create uncertainty in his mind---.

Gentlemen----fighting a war means that you have to think out of the box---in order for you to move 2 steps forward---you have to step 2 steps back---. You have to play mind games with the enemy.

The purchase of M2K9 by pakistan would be mind blowing to some in the IAF---. Paktan must not miss this oppurtunity.

It is just like someone took away your time tested and trusting partner--.

No cannot imagine. The Viper managed better and was cheaper to operate (not to mention the free training), just short of BVRAAM employment (still trained for it) and acquisition in the 80s.

PAF selected the F16s over the Mirage 2000s for so many good reasons, the irony for IAF is that the Mirage 2000 is still the only aircraft they TRUST the most at the moment. Had they been more flexible like the PAF they could have collected more platforms available world wide.

I love the Mirage and it's delta silhouette and it excels in strike. However in case of PAF its either get Mirage 2000 or more F-16s and the F-16 will always win that debate hands down.

Sadly for India they missed out on acquiring the production line when it was being phased out in France, had they not put too much pride into Tejas, a local production line for Mirage 2000s could have solved their fleet renewal plans and they could have been working on improved Mirage variants with Rafael tech.

Getting the F16s in our inventory was a good decision but the Geo Political price we paid to have our hands on them was/is unimaginable.

Absolutely agree to that, there are many platforms available for resale.

Well its the past now, what we need to counter is Indias new acquisition of the RAFALE jet.

The same people who financed our F16's, should have been convinced to finance our M2K's. Sometimes complacency can be equal to stupidity.
