Hi,
Buying the F16 was the worst decision---and should have gone for the mirage 2K's---that way india could not have bought the m2k's---.
But as the Paf got them---they should have gone for the m2k's as well when they became available---.
This again is an act of extremely bad Judgement against pakistan by the Paf by allowing the enemy to be able to get the almost equal of the F16---.
I don't think Pakistan could have done anything about India's acquiring of Mirage-2000s. At the most, had PAF proactively acquired some Mirage-2000s before IAF did India might have thought twice before acquiring. But that doesn't mean that they wouldn't have acquired them at all. Subsequent to India's acquisition and the US imposition of Pressler, PAF did begin pushing for Mirage-2000/2000-5. According to one academic source that I know of PAF had the full support of the civilian government as well as JCSC. The axe that landed on the foot came from elsewhere within the country.
