I was told the same thing by a PAF source a few months ago. Is it likely that Pakistan will exercise the option for the total 18 extra F-16s or buy more surplus ones from the US ?

I always wonder why the PA didn't request the AH-64 though. The AH-1Z makes sense for the USMC but surely the AH-64D/E would be far more suited for the PA?

If a Northrop Grumman AN/APG-80 AESA (Sabre Upgrade) or Raytheon's APG-79 AESA radar, a Super Viper, similar to F-16 Block 60 would make more sense?

Plus: General Electric F110-132A engine with 143 kN full afterburning thrust with FADEC Controls and Advanced all-color glass cockpit.

It will give a significant boost to our capabilities.

Firstly you should check whether that option is still valid or expired.....If there is a request from US, it would have been for EDA articles which would then be given a MLU. Plus with changing political mix in us (Republicans having majority in Congress and lower house). Things will be subject to greater scrutiny and delays.

In my opinion Pakistan is having a great opportunity to get close to Russia & they should not lose this opportunity, Pakistan needs to say good bye to US for good as they are not helping in any way, the shackle needs to broken now for good.

Pakistan, Russia & China for defence cooperation. F**K US.

For attack helis MI28 Havoc or WZ10 & etc. are the best available option for Pakistan Defence. What Pakistan needs Russia & China got them.
