LM has given Turkey the tentive date of start of delivery of new block 70, early 2030...so to complete the delivery it would take LM from mid to late 2030s....n turkey is not willing to wait that long. As by that time khaan would also be flying in Turkish color so point of spending 25 billion $ would be waisted, so Turkey wants ac ac in couple of years.
So the choices are euro fighter, su 35 n j10 .

Su35 is out of the equation as Turkey does not want to come under any more sanctions.

That leaves eurofighter n j10c.
Now accotding to Turkey as euro fighter is being built by 4 countries so it can be troublesome as Turkey right now is not on best of terms with some of its nato partners so even if the sale does happen the counties might create trouble down the line on one pretext or an other...so a bit jittery their.

So Turkey is looking at the j10c as a possible option....advantages are quick delivery time a outstandingly allaround full spectrum 4++ ac which beats the f16 n the rafale in more then a few aspects in its full envelope.

The things where they are right now PAF has played a huge role.

But having said all of the above if LM gives Turkey favorable delivery time Turkey would go for f 16 without a second thought.
I don't think China would repeat the story of HQ-9 SAM again.

I try it a second time! The J-10C is NO option and the moment Turkey orders that type, no F-16 will be flying any more and Kaan is dead at least with the interim engines!

The US and NATO will never ever accept a NATO member to operate a CHinese high-end type which immediately means China access to Western systems. As such it is capability and based on the delivery schedule „an option“ but onyx to press the US and LM to reconsider.

There's one dark horse candidate... Embraer KC-390.

However, it'd be limited to hose-and-drogue AAR (for JF-17 and J-10CE), not boom refueling (for F-16).

That said, the KC-390 could be a feasible way of gradually supplanting the C-130s, especially the older B/E models in the coming decades. The PAF could try acquiring the KC-390 in small batches of 2~4 over a period of 15, 20 or even 25 years.
ive always been an advocate for it. C390 to replace C130's, KC390 to replace IL76, it seems so logical, yet so complex

Actually IMO it's pretty shocking that a drone was allowed on the exact approach path so close to the runway threshold. Granted it's a jet and not a 777, but still are we really taking these stupid risks? Anything can happen at that phase of flight.

The one with the drone next to the J10 during take off is a bit less egregious, but still a bit unprofessional I must say.



Why did they let him fly a drone so close then?

Indeed, there is the risk of engine inhalation, kinda like a bird strike right after takeoff.

Out of curiosity..is it possible for PAF to work on making an indigenous boom system that could be fitted on the IL-78 when required? I mean is it really THAT hard to develop something like that locally?

Look China with the size of its armament industry is no where on the intl. Stage as an arms seller.....if Turkey at all goes for then China would except with both arms n legs

Why would China be foolish to be used as a bargaining chip of Turkey vis-a-vis USA?

Indeed, the S-400 is IMO a one-off exception and the consequence was they lost access to the F-35, which was a more than clear warning … do you really the US would allow them to operate a CHinese fighter within a Western military „ecosystem“?

Thats how the arms industry works unless u plan to give it for free as aid through some agreement like ussr use to do or u.s still does to some of it allies....

Ur not getting the gyst of wt I am trying to tell as ur not reading my post n have an opinion deadset about somthing....
In all my post the thing I have stressed upon the most is the simple fact that j 10c is a means of last resort....they will only go for it after they have burnt all their options.

Right now the only reason they have even mentioned it so explicitly is the simple fact that they want to tell n warn the u.s that they have other options....

As for the u.s/nato retaliation if they go for the Chinese option.....well after the nato fu$#kup in Ukraine where they are not only on the verge of loosing the war, they in the process have woken up a sleeping giant ie russia, whom they presented as incompetent.....now that the russian military complex is in full swing....they are in deep sh!t as it is n in such a situation they can't do fu%€kall as Turkey just so happens to be the largest European contributor to nato n the first line of defence in any such eventuality.

You still don't understand what I mean.

True, it's risky for sure. A lot of air forces (and airshows) are filming with drones now. You think that's bad; you should see some of the Arab air forces training exercises. Talk about close calls! Some of the ones we've seen from a few years ago baffle the mind that they were allowed to get that close to flying jets.

One in particular I remember was an exercise between Kuwaiti F-18s and EAF F-16s and not only was the drone flying at the same altitude as a 4-ship of jets, but the drone (which was a DJI Phantom III) was so close to the outermost flanking F-16 that the ensuing jetwash knocked the drone off its flying path. They quickly cut that section of the film out loool.

With that gaping intake on the F-16s, you could easily see how that could've been a major disaster. Needless to say, that type of filming was swiftly halted. Since that one clip they've been much more careful filming with drones.

That's a very bold claim, my friend. And way too dismissive of both, the Rafale & the F-16 (depending on the model of the latter, too) but certainly way over the board regarding the Rafale. Despite nationalism or patriotism, objectivity is always important and essential to be as accurate as possible when making analogies like that.

I suspect the Brazilian gov't just hasn't given Embraer the greenlight to take the C-390 to Pakistan for tests.

The way I'd frame it is...we're capable of doing it if we acquire the necessary skills and tools. However, we lack that capacity and are unlikely to develop it for a niche project. This means we'll need an off-the-shelf solution or -- if possible -- commission someone else with that capacity to do it. The PN is taking this exact approach with the Sea Sultan LRMPA by commissioning Leonardo and Paramount Group.

I could see Leonardo being interested in developing a competing AAR package to offer against Airbus and Boeing. In fact, I'll bet you that once the PN inducts the Sea Sultan, Leonardo will start marketing the same MPA package (subsystems plus integration services). They could do the same with an AAR solution using their own hose-and-drogue and boom tech.
