Dhaka, Apr 11 (bdnews24.com) — RAJUK will not allocate any more housing plots after the Jhilmil Housing Project, state minister for housing Abdul Mannan Khan said on Wednesday.

Instead, the capital development authority would be building multi-storied apartment complexes and sell ready-to-live flats through lottery, he added at the Jhilmil project's plot allocation lottery at Dhaka's Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

The lottery that started off at 10am will pick 520 lucky winners of the total 1200 plots for allotment.

All plots, other than the reserved 10 percent, will be distributed amongst five categories of professionals (Lawyers, engineers, doctors, agriculturists and journalists) over the next 10 days.

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) chairman Nurul Huda said the result of Wednesday's lottery will be made known on their notice board and website. It would also be published in four dailies on Thursday.

The project, 150 kilometres from the Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge at Postogola, consists of plots of 20 types and sub-types.

Those seeking a plot in the project submitted their applications to RAJUK between June and October last year.

The city's development agency received a total of 35,000 applications, officials said.
