The same people here who are so conveniently apologizing for this failure.. would have been so vehemently pooh-pooing it had it been one of Pakistan's or China's.

On topic.. This could be quite likely an issue with the software.. since the launch seems to have worked fine which means that the "and/or" etc FPGA's that usually form the part of the launch mechanism(due to their lower latency) worked well.. and the more heavy and computationally intensive part that requires the missile to think .. failed.
Which basically means some team lead is having a headache about the answers he will have to give.. along with the massive debugging he will have to do.
