Mysterious Iranian missile on display in Army Day parade

WASHINGTON ― An unidentified air-launched cruise missile, rarely seen, was on display at Iran’s Army Day parade on Wednesday. Marked with initials of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force, the missile features trapezoidal grid fins ― most commonly associated with U.S. missiles ― and a seeker in the tip.

According to Ian Williams, associate director of the CSIS Missile Defense Project, this suggests the mysterious missile is equipped with some kind of homing guidance, possibly an infrared or TV seeker.

During the parade, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the country would “produce or acquire any weapons we need,” without waiting for approval from the international community.

Ostensibly referring to Iran’s nuclear program, Rouhani is likely also referring to Iran’s controversial ballistic missile program, which was also on full display during the parade.

Iran unveiled an upgraded missile defense system called the Kamin-2, designed to engage low-altitude threats, including a variety of UAVs and low-flying planes.

Despite rolling out this new equipment, Rouhani assured Iran’s neighbors that “our weapons are not against you, it’s for deterrence.”

“[w]e are not living in a normal region, and we see invading powers have built bases around us,” he said.

It remains to be seen how regional actors will respond to this new technology. Recently, Iran has been under pressure from the United Kingdom, France and Germany, who proposed new sanctions on Iran in an attempt to convince U.S. President Donald Trump to preserve the 2015 nuclear deal, according to Reuters.

Iran tested it's 1st Air Launched turbojet powered anti ship cruise missile a few years ago!

I didn't see any other Air Launched cruise missile displayed at the parade

And Iranian BM were not displayed because this was an Artesh parade not a joint parade which usually happens in September for the sacred defense week

Yes,its rather weird. The article talks about "trapezoidal grid fins" but grid fins tend to be square or paddle shaped not trapezoidal and I cant think of any iranian systems that use these,in addition I havent been able to find any pictures of the weapon in question either,so if anyone has a pic from the parade then please post it.

What's shocking is people getting shocked by Iranian counter imaging technology!

With the processing power & memory storage capacitates available off the shelf I don't see how anyone should be surprised by Iran developing counter imaging for guidance!

Iran wouldn't be able to build humanoid robots like the Surena if it was incapable of developing counter imaging technology that by comparison is far simpler

Your just comparing live photo's with stored ones in your data base and fusion of digitized sensor data of your INS like speed, heading, altitude,.... reduce your search parameters + increased processing powers and ability to store large quantities of information on small light weight off the shelf devices easily allow Iran and other countries far less advanced than Iran to do this at a fairly affordable price!
