MMRCA Fighter deal bigger: 126 will rise to 260

Initially we order only 50 odd MKIs but now we place order for more than 300 so why this is so surprising for all of us ?????

su-30s are bought to counter the f-16s of pak Af.initially a small batch were ordered but after seeing the performance IAF further ordered in huge numbers.

But this MMRCA deal is totally different from that MKI deal.here a specified no of planes are being ordered(just to fill the vacuum due to the retired MigS & due to delay of tejas),may be in future extra 50 could ordered but 260 is much higher no..:what:

why we need such a large no of 4.5 G palnes.instead we could order more FGPA (400:rolleyes:) !!! i think there is not much price diff between MMRCA & FGPA fighters.

And for all those saying its impossible for such a large order, you have no idea how fighter planes are inducted. 126 is initial order. Very rarely do nations stop at that. You think 270 MKIs were ordered in the first order?
But I feel it is TOO much. Considering PAKFA production lines should start 2017ish, we could go for more of those.
Because if we order eurofighter.. It's cost including life cycle will be as much, if not more than the PAKFA

Impossible. Even if the first flight takes place in 2017ish.. you can't expect IOC before 2025. Which means FOC should be around 2028

Dnt compare AMCA with Tejas time frame .
Tejas is our first attempt so case is totally different

May be we will. Who knows?

the why the gripen is in contest..... we shouldnt have added in to MMRCA....
and 500 LCA. is a huge number considering our current capability of HAL production facility....

126 MMRCA fighter is enough or 150 is the best no..
instead we should increase the FGPA no to 400,& buy some 100 reaper drones or 100 AURA !!!

according to my sources,, i had posted here before..MMRCA deal gonaa split..and it will be rafael and f-18...

gripen and eurpfighter trying their maximum in AI to impress IAF top brass.. :)
i believe they deserve too... ;)

how about Stealth 134 F-18 and 126 Typhoon...

why we need another stealth platform ????

PakFa, FGFA, AMCA kaha jayenge ????

But if MoD select F18 so in future they will upgrade them according to F18 future road map

260 planes is a huge number, given the cost of EF and Rafale the cost can spiral nearly to $25 billion, this at a time when we had confirmed purchase of 250 FGFA which cost nearly as same as EF,and the generation gap should be noted.

Why should they spend more money on a 4.5 at a time when FGFA production line will become active,it should be noted that MRCA line will continue even after the introduction of FGFA.

So I think either the news is bogus or deal will favor F/A-18 or Gripen which is comparably cheap can can be used to bulge the numbers.

F&%K ME!! Pardon my language but... I mean I knew India was going to be a future major power but I thought that would be 20_40 years down the line.

It seems India is starting to put its money where its mouth is-
-1000s of state of the art fighters for the IAFin the next 2 decades.
-3-5 CBGs with 100s of fighters
-LArge numbers of subs (SSN+SSBs+Diesel-electric)
-HUGE new improvments to SO capability of Indian SOFs
and much more!!
