Mixed marriages?

Can mixed marriages work? I'm dating an Indian Sikh girl and she's very open minded like myself but her brother found out about us and prohibited her from dating me. He told her it wont work out in the future. I knew a Sikh girl who married a Pakistani guy and they seem to be happy. It's just sad that religion can become a huge obstacle in love.
lol you think punjabis in canada are open minded :woot:

cut the whining you, if you really think you want her, and she wants you too the same way... nothing or no one is stopping you both to start a new life.

get over with the excuses, be a man !

Once you get married in-laws would be the last thing you would care about, Saans lene ki fursat nahi degi wife !!!

Kyon Khudkhush ban rahe ho?

OP, stop being such a beta. If you truly like the girl man up and put the brother in his place. A relationship is doomed if you are whipped by both the girl and her brother. FFS OP, you shouldn't have let him walk all over you, the fact that he would even say that out loud shows he has no respect for you. By you not doing anything, you are enforcing the viewpoint that you are an emotional foot mat.

WTF? If you are financially stable and has a potentially bright future, what will stop you? This is 21st century not the damm medieval age. As long as you both are not religious, there's no reason why religion should get in the way but if one of you is religious then there might be a possibility to pave way for future problems.

It depends really . Are you marrying the person or their family. Also, If anyone told m to convert for the sake of the marriage, I would end it right there.

Are you serious about marrying her though? Like I dated a sikh girl for like 5 months and her dad went ballistic talking about throwing her out if she ain't end it. I didn't know if I was really committed to her so I was ok with ending it. IMO its up to how committed you are, sikhs are a lot more strict especially when it comes to us Muslims, they don't like us much.

married to a taiwanese girl, no issues with mixed marriage here.
good luck with whatever you decide.

Religious preference often trumps racial preference would you not say?

If the brother is not liking it, you can bet their parents, uncles/aunts, etc. aren't either. Lol, nothing to do with beta or whatever, it can get messy.

Be Careful , Bro....
I am sure you heard about a love story where this Canadian Sikh girl went to India and fell in love with this Muslim Rickshaw driver and Married him in spite of their warning. They had her butchered and left lying in a ditch. The Assassins left the guy all hacked up and thought he was dead, but he somehow survived. When the news came out the Canadian Govt. went after the Sikh Father ad Brothers but I don't know the outcome of that case. Maybe you know as you are Canadian.

I am curious since you said "your father is Muslim" but did not say anything about your mother. Does that mean that you are a product of mixed marriage yourself ? In which case you would know better than anyone else here how mixed marriages pan out.
