Middle East ‘elites’: Turkey’s say in diplomacy on the rise

I can't believe that people believe the opposite to be the case to be honest. Anyway given the lack of knowledge about the Arab world from many users here it is not really that surprising, is it my friend?

Well, I think he must have misunderstood what I was trying to say.

Indeed, if we were close with eachother, i mean A tri-alliance Pakistan, Iran and Turkey. We'd definetly be much more powerful but, Iran chose Russia. Pakistan chose US and China and Turkey chose nato. Fuvck peace fuvck the middle east :)

Iran didn't choose anyone. We are lone wolves, fück alliances.

Anyway the Hariri family is a very good, clever and successful family with big ties to KSA. Very popular among the Sunnis in Lebanon.

Saed Hariri was even born in KSA and has citizenship so had his late father that was assassinated by the heretic minority.

Although there is some propaganda by the enemies that say that he is the son of the late King Fahd and not Rafiq Hariri.

No, the Non-Aligned movement had helped Iran to counter its political isolation in the West.

Non-Alligned movement is not Russia. They are a large organization. Very different then tying yourself into an alliance or "brotherhood" with one or two other countries.

At least they backed Iran in the last summit, which is enough.

Anyways if I was the head, i'd pick KSA and Israel as regional partners

What you are saying is that some specialists are wrong (like the book author)?

well buying 60 billions that's just much more than one need : that's to please USA and help them in time of crisis.
saying it is a lobby it is quite funny , espcially weapons are not the last tech: last tech is only sold to Israel, the real ally of USA in all meanings.

Sorry, but no, there is a big hack of a difference between Turkey and Iran. Suffice to say that they're economically superior, and technologically head and shoulders above Iran. While Turkey's economy is booming, welcoming heavy industrialization, Iran is the other way around.

Iran never supported any Sunni movement with the exception of Palestine and Al-Qaida in Iraq.

Pray tell me what Turkey has done for Sunnis all these years? Oh yeah and making their women take off the hijab does not count.

Turkey wanted to be a part of Europe but failed so now they want to have some influence in the middle east but they will find no takers.
The middle east will continue to be influenced by the GCC(mostly your KSA) and Iran until one or the other completely cripples the others influence.

Lebanon needs being independant not being puppet

Hariri family high profile on corruption.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rafic_Hariri
Hariri was considered as the principal actor in the widespread corruption that plagued Lebanon during the Syrian occupation. His wealth grew from less than $1 billion when he was appointed prime minister in 1992, to over $16 billion when he died. The Company for the Development and Reconstruction of Beirut's Central District, known as Solidere, in which Hariri is the primary shareholder, expropriated most property in the central business district of Beirut, compensating each owner with shares in the company, were worth as little as 15% of the property's value. That Hariri and his business associates profited immensely from this project was an open secret

Hariri and his protégés were not the only beneficiaries of this spending spree. In order to secure support from militia chieftains, and pro-Syrian ideologues that Damascus had installed in the government, Hariri allowed kickbacks from public spending to enrich all major government figures. Contracts for the import of petroleum were awarded to the two sons of President Elias Hrawi

As result of the growing criticism and popular discontent with Hariri's policies, the government banned public demonstrations in 1994 and relied upon the Army to enforce the decree.[36][37] In return for a relatively free hand in economic matters, Hariri cooperated with Syria's drive to consolidate its control over Lebanon. Under the guise of "regulating" the audiovisual media, the government placed control of all major television and radio stations in the hands of pro-Syrian elites. Supporters of Michel Aoun were also perpetually harassed and detained.[36][37]
He is mainly credited with the widespread corruption that followed the war and the crippling damages done to the economy, with the public debt rising from $2.5 billion to over $40 billion and economic growth slowing from 8% to –1% during his time as prime minister.

The scores received by Lebanon on the The World Bank's Governance Indicators 1996-2008 published at the end of June 2009, translate very high levels of corruption and bad governance.
Over 212 reviewed countries, Lebanon was ranked 146th on the Government's Efficiency indicator, 202nd on the Political Stability indicator, 108th on the Voice and Accountability indicator, and 167th on the Corruption Control indicator.

Absolutely not. Israel tried to block the deal due to the technological quality of such weapons. And Yes, you will want to lobby for that.

Yeah it was a deal between Israel and USA : sell KSA weapons ok but not high tech.
Everyone knows that. I didn't deny it ;)

I was responding to IraniGirl comments. And Yes, Turkey helped a lot to crush the skulls of Hezbollah clients in Bahrain.
