Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has launched studies on a maritime patrol version of the E190-E2 and has begun talks with potential development partners in foreign countries, which it plans to continue during the Dubai Air Show, a senior executive told ShowNews.

“We are looking for some international partners who can join us on this journey,” says João Bosco Costa Jr., CEO of Embraer Defense and Security. “So it's a perfect moment to have that kind of conversation with them.”

One configuration of the aircraft under consideration includes the highly modified E190-E2, which features a downward-slanted radome mounted on the nose of the aircraft; Anti-ship missiles carried on the belly of the aircraft; and an internal fuselage bay aft to hold acoustic buoys. But the design is likely to evolve as configuration studies continue.

“We are far from a frozen formation,” Bosco says. “We are now in the process of evaluating all the possibilities and all the solutions available in the market to put the best [effort] we can into this potential product to get a potential launch customer very quickly.”

Maritime patrol concept studies for the 90-seat regional aircraft could provide Embraer with an option to replace nine Brazilian P-3C Orions, which were acquired as used aircraft from the US Navy in 2006.

If officially launched into development, the Embraer-designed E190-E2-based maritime patrol aircraft would represent one of the first large turboprop commercial aircraft to enter this market segment since the US Navy introduced the Boeing P-8A. Over the course of a decade. since. The E190-E2 was equipped with a Pratt & Whitney PW1900 turbofan engine.

In 2020, the Pakistani Army selected the Embraer Lineage 1000 – a variant of the original E190-powered General Electric CF34-8 regional jet – for the maritime patrol aircraft mission.

Wow. They copied Pakistan Navy Sea Sultan renders and slapped their own logo on it.

The group's broad and diverse capabilities and interoperability across multiple domains, while continuing to expand the horizons of innovation and consolidate sovereign capabilities.

New systems

The new systems launched by EDGE during the Dubai Air Show include three autonomous aircraft, including: the new REACH-M aircraft, a fixed-wing, medium-altitude, high-endurance unmanned combat air vehicle designed for intelligence, reconnaissance, surveillance, and light ground attack operations, with a maximum plane weighs of 1,500 kilograms at take-off, and has independent capabilities that include take-off, landing, and pre-planned flight paths. It can fly for 24 hours with a payload of up to 350 kilograms.

The group offers eight new missile, guided munitions and jamming systems, including: “NASF-20”, a low-cost subsonic cruise missile launched from drones and designed to accurately hit soft targets, guided using a satellite navigation system, and a semi-guided system can be added. Active laser-based weapon to improve accuracy against specific targets.
The new systems also include "NASF-125", a subsonic anti-ship cruise missile, which can engage land and sea targets using infrared imaging and an active radar-based tracking system; The missile features advanced capabilities to approach the surface of the sea to avoid detection by air defense systems, in addition to the "RASH-3H", a high-precision guided munition system that can deal with small and medium-sized threats.

"Edge" also launched the national anti-ship missile (MANSUP-ER), which has an extended range and is suitable for all weather conditions, which was developed in partnership with the Brazilian Navy and the Brazilian company "SEAT", which specializes in smart weapons and technologically advanced systems, in which "Edge" owns a share of... 50%, with the aim of meeting the defense requirements of the UAE Navy and its Brazilian counterpart, in addition to enhancing international export operations..The missile has a range of 200 kilometers, has adaptive capabilities in contact with the sea surface, and is equipped with inertial guidance capabilities and active radar tracking.
