Mine is at November 6th...I´ll fly from Milano Malpensa to Madrid and then from there to Santiago de Chile.

Entire flight time is 18 hours...

I currently struggle to decide if i take a windows or row seat.

According to m tickets i will fly on a 787-9 and those have amazing large windows. Its mostly a night flight though.

Row has the advantage that i can leave my seat whenever i want without needing to ask anyone.

Being the fitness freak i´m i often do some training during flight like push-ups in the row. On my flight last year to Mauritius i was pretty much in the middle of the aircraft and when i did it some people looked weird at me. So now i guess it would be best to have a seat far back in the plane.

What do you guys think or prefer?

Mine is 40 minutes the longest travel done in air, Chandigarh to Mumbai flight. I have taken domestic travel only till now. BTW I will suggest you to take seat on back side, avoid window seat. Not much can be seen in night anyways.

In which class you are traveling ? Have you got choice to select seat ? Check the options in their website. Some airlines give the available choices.
If it's economy, then forget about window or middle seat. Try to get seat in beginning of class, where there is no seat in front of you, and you can stretch your legs. That helps a lot in long flights.

 There is a reason you have -38 negatives

8 hours. That's the longest flight I've ever had to endure.

Note; this wasn't a commercial flight.

Its economy. An economy seat from italy to chile cost 2500 € one way already...and im a trainee my budget isnt endless. ^^

Afaik i can select my seat online when i get my tickets next week.

Its important for me to get up without disturbing others. But being to close to toilets isnt that nice either?

I looked at seatguru:

https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/LATAM_Chile/LAN_Airlines_Boeing_787-900.php

Pretty much options. Thing is if you make the wrong choice you are fucked.

Take an aisle seat, you'll get more leg room and the ability to stand up and take a walk anytime you like. Window seats are terrible, generally women prefer it due to their small stature as they can lean on sleep but for a decent sized guy its a trap cage, enjoy your flight..

i get irritated in flight of 2 hours and 15 mins from Karachi to Abu Dhabi because of the Runway was busy our plane has to circle around the city .. I don't like flying , I like Road trips but unfortunately you can't cross the Atlantic Ocean on car hah

New York to Delhi................52 hours

I don't know what possessed me to take Romanian airlines. It was supposed to take about 23 hours with 2 stops in Romania. Due to heavy fog in Delhi, flight was delayed by 6 hours, after 6 hours, got delayed again by a couple of hours. Finally we flew n got close to Delhi airport, only to find out they cannot land due to heavy fog not the plane did not have instruments to land. We circled for 2 hours hoping to get clearance to land. After burning so much fuel and no place to land, plane was diverted to Bombay. When we got to bombay, they didn't even let us off the plane. We sat there for six hours, finally we got clearance to take off. After many exhausting hours we landed in Delhi. What a relief. Pilot announced we have landed in Delhi, everyone was happy n all clapped to see an end to this torturous journey. Wait a minute, pilot come on again next said because we have landed at a different time than scheduled, there's no gate available to unload passengers. We had to wait another hour before the plane was pulled to a jetway.
At that time we all just wanted to just break the door, push everyone away and leave the plane before someone changes their mind.
This was my longest flight experience ever.
This took place in around 1998, I think, don't really remember. But what I do remember is there were no TV's on the plane, don't even mention smart phones to kill time.

Otherwise, always take the aisle seat, better to stretch legs.

I hope people from Santiago de Chile have read some of your posts and don't allow a racist in.

Chile was ruled for decades by a facist dictator and is one of the most racist nations on this planet. Only topped by Argentina.

That said i´m not racist. I´m a patriot. I support my people 100% and place our interests above all others. I´m nice to other races outside of italy as long they are not against us. So please spare me such harsh words.

That said i pretty much will opt for the aisle seat. Its a night flight during most of the time so i cant see much anyways.

Not true. Have met many Argentinian and Chileans in other countries, warm hearted people.

Italians actually as well.

You are an exception, :D
