Longest flight you ever had?

My last day in Munich was very hectic, i am a car nut so the only thing i wanted to do was to go to BMW Welt and take the factory tour, after that and strolling around the Olympic park i was taken to the airport by one of our trainers, the flight landed in DXB at 7am where my friend picked me, we spend the whole day roaming here and there (first time DXB visit too) shop till i drop for my son and awaited daughter, at around 9pm i was totally drained out and was heading to friends place to crash for the night, we had plans of leaving for Ferrari World early in the morning, another of my friend calls up and said "Bhabi is trying to get in touch with you, your phone is off, call her" i did and found out that a hour ago she gave birth to our daughter.

So here I was stuck in Dubai with flight out the next day at 8pm, we immediately went to airport got the flight changed to the next available flight at 7am, stayed up all night at friends place with me both pissed at myself and friend and his wife at the moment comforting me, the name they suggested for my daughter was the name we eventually kept i.e. Enaayah, ended in plane which got delayed for an hour because 2 guys decided at the last moment (after taking boarding passes) that they don't want to go which triggered some sort of security protocol along with taking out their luggage.

I had a similar experience. My wife was pregnant and was due in june end-july 1st week. She was at her parents in Mumbai and I was in Bangalore. On 12th April at around 8:30 PM I got a call from my in-laws that she has gone into pre-mature labour and they are taking her to the hospital. I immediately booked the first available flight in the morning leaving at 5 AM. At 3 AM when I was getting into the Taxi my in laws called and said that the doctor wanted to speak with me. She said that it is an extremely tense situation and she will try to save both of them but there is only 70% chance. I told her to do whatever is neccesary and I am coming. At 4:15 AM just as I was entering the airport my son was born and they shifted him to neo natal ICU. The 1 and 1/2 hour flight from Bangalore to Mumbai felt like a 1 and 1/2 days flight. After landing I took a cab directly to the hospital. The cab driver could see from my face that I was super dooper tense. Later once he dropped me he told me he had initially planned to fill petrol enroute but seeing my face he decided to first take me to hospital and then fill the petrol

By grace of god both mother and baby are healthy and my son just celebrated his 6th month birthday

I dont understand why a flight from Bahrain to Lahore had to travel over the Indian Airspace? that is not the direct route. however due to winds it took a longer route and had to land at the nearest airport - Delhi

Understanding the security situation between our 2 countries it was an understandable precaution. you know very well that Pakistani visitors are screened extra carefully. Even their regular visa processing is a 2 step verification process - Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home. So giving emergency transit visa to a plane full of Pakistanis without any background checks and verification will be extremely difficult.
Actually the pilot tried to land at Lahore Airport for almost 1 hour but got struck by lightning twice in the process. The several compononents of the plane had malfunctioned and the nearby airports within Pakistan were equally unsuitable after rain and thunderstorm so the pilot decided to land in Delhi.

I know the Indo-Pak ever popular tensed circumstances but it is really not good for forcing passengers to remain inside the aircraft. Just a month before this incident, a similar incident took place with Indian plane and Pakistan not only allowed safe landing in Sindh but also took extra care of the passengers anyhow possible.

I still have very few complaints from Indian side... the biggest culprit as usual was thr GoP who took credit without doing anything at all (PM ne notice le liya, apna plane bhejh rahay hain etc)

In this sequence and in one go?

Time spent in the air?

Sorry, the correct picture is
  • Budapest - Frankfurt: 1 hour
  • Frankfurt - Delhi: 8.5 hours
  • Delhi - Singapore: 4 hours
  • Singapore - Seoul: 8 hours
This was nearly sixteen years ago, so my details are vague. Between 20 to 24 hours.

Worst flight i ever had was for our own airline. We had a ferry flight of an empty A320 from Milano Malpensa to Frankfurt.

We had severe storms in northern italy and extreme rainfall. So bad that local governor declared emergency...

But we needed our machine in Frankfurt the next day no matter what. We got a permission as only machine to leave...

we boarded and sat down...

When we rolled towards the runway the machine was already shaking from heavy crosswinds and massive rain...

Then we took off...it was most extreme take off i ever had. The machine shaked violently and sacked through several times. Some people screamed...we made it and in retrospect it was fun xD

Are you writing about Reagan National Airport, right? Not Richmond or Dulles. International traffic is allowed, but only non-commercial flights for smaller aircraft. I flew into Reagan direct from Torp with my dad 11 years ago, when at the time he was a full colonel in the Norwegian Army and was sent to the US.

Reagan does service international traffic, but not commercial airlines, and is relegated to military or law enforcement receiving only.

Yes, I'm talking about commercial flight cause I don't know the restrictions on military flight service to and from DCA.

Legal maximum distance limit for flights from DCA is 1250 miles. Exceptions are made, for example US based airline with a major hub outside the 1250 miles will be allowed limited numbers of flight. Canada airline is also allowed to fly to Toronto. Some Caribbean flights are also seasonally allowed.

I know this cause I was a shift manager for us airways, currently know as American Airlines, at DCA airport. Every now and then we saw military aircraft parked on tarmac Bay. I have seen F-16s fly from DCA.

On Earth - Philadelphia to San Francisco (and then back) A little over 5 hours.

Earth to the city of Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy. A little over 3 million light-years and roughly 3 weeks travel time via hyperspace.

Nonstop single leg would be 15 hours from Karachi to Toronto on a 777.

Total in-flight time for one journey would be 3 hours from Lahore to Abu Dhabi in an A340, then 14.5 hours from Abu Dhabi to Toronto in a 777 and then another 3.5 hours from Toronto to Regina in an E190. A total of 21 hours.

Longest total in-transit time would be one in Jan of 2014 when it took the regular 13 hours to reach Dubai from Toronto in an A380, then an 8 hour layover, then took off from Dubai in a 777 and at around an hour and a half into the flight was turned back over Balochistan due to fog in Lahore, we circled over Dubai for around an additional hour, then another 8.5 hours at the Dubai airport and then finally a 3 hour flight to Lahore. Comes to a total in-transit time of 36.5 hours, approximately.
