Longest flight you ever had?

You hate the traffic that's why, frankly everyone does.

 Yeah that's probably it. 8 hours from Sandefjord Airport, Torp to Dulles... the last thing I want to do is sit in traffic on my way to a hotel (or friends house).

I always make my way South into Northern Virginia for housing, where my work related travel typically situates me, and going South on I-95 late afternoon just stinks:o:!!

I think this is near Baltimore, but I-95 is bad regardless of where you are, and it's even being expanded!! Going North from Richmond isn't pleasurable either, but there's less Northbound traffic during peak hours then is coming South from D.C.

Plan around those times.

I wish I could, but there aren't many flights out of Torp to D.C. to begin with, so it's hard to work around an unpreferable schedule.

Direct from AKL-DXB,16:25 hours previous best was 13:20 hours on BNE-DXB.It was a B77 not an A380 :(.

My longest flight was 6 hours from DXB to Munich in A380, it was first ever international travel for me and i was very anxious, being a regular viewer of Airccrash investigation DOES NOT go well with first time international travel lol

I took window seat (hey there is still a child inside me) but due to panic attacks i again and again had to go to washroom, the couple sitting right next to me were amazing and understanding, after like fifth or sixth time i asked to shift seat to aisle so that i don't have to disturb them again and again, right before the landing they asked if i want to shift back to my seat to enjoy the view which i did lol

For those who want to read a long stupid story of my most memorable flight from DXB to KHI go ahead read away

My most memorable flight how ever was my return to Karachi in this journey only, See i was there in Munich for training so it was all paid for visit, My wife was pregnant at that time and the baby was due in second week of Feb while i was supposed to land back on 22nd Jan. My boss let me take a 2 days stop over at Dubai on the way back to have some good time and shop while having one extra day in Munich to enjoy so in all three days paid vacations.

My last day in Munich was very hectic, i am a car nut so the only thing i wanted to do was to go to BMW Welt and take the factory tour, after that and strolling around the Olympic park i was taken to the airport by one of our trainers, the flight landed in DXB at 7am where my friend picked me, we spend the whole day roaming here and there (first time DXB visit too) shop till i drop for my son and awaited daughter, at around 9pm i was totally drained out and was heading to friends place to crash for the night, we had plans of leaving for Ferrari World early in the morning, another of my friend calls up and said "Bhabi is trying to get in touch with you, your phone is off, call her" i did and found out that a hour ago she gave birth to our daughter.

So here I was stuck in Dubai with flight out the next day at 8pm, we immediately went to airport got the flight changed to the next available flight at 7am, stayed up all night at friends place with me both pissed at myself and friend and his wife at the moment comforting me, the name they suggested for my daughter was the name we eventually kept i.e. Enaayah, ended in plane which got delayed for an hour because 2 guys decided at the last moment (after taking boarding passes) that they don't want to go which triggered some sort of security protocol along with taking out their luggage.

Fortunately the flight was empty, but my happiness was short lived, a Pathan bhai (with all due respect to all my pathan brothers and sisters) soon came and sat next to me, he was labour type guy, stinking hard, His only aim in life was to press ALL the fricking buttons he could find on the seat, on the ICE entertainment remote and not only on his seat but mine too, he kept on talking on the phone even on take off roll and i was freaked out, i haven't had slept for nearly 24 hours and anxiety was all time high at the moment, i politely requested the air hostess to change my seat which i was told i can after take off, the seat was right in front of the one i was sitting before and i took a sigh of relief, The relief was short lived as i soon felt something on my arm and it was pathan bhai's huge stinking feet rubbing against my arm, i almost banged my head on the wall ARGGGGGH

That 2 hour flight was THE LONGEST FUCKING FLIGHT OF MY LIFE ... now i look back, its been almost 5 years to that trip and i still laugh at that experience and i love to share it with friends, i keep on telling my daughter that she made me cancel my trip to Ferrari World and she keeps on telling me Baba don't worry we will go together lol

Mine is at November 6th...I´ll fly from Milano Malpensa to Madrid and then from there to Santiago de Chile.

Entire flight time is 18 hours...

I currently struggle to decide if i take a windows or row seat.

According to m tickets i will fly on a 787-9 and those have amazing large windows. Its mostly a night flight though.

Row has the advantage that i can leave my seat whenever i want without needing to ask anyone.

Being the fitness freak i´m i often do some training during flight like push-ups in the row. On my flight last year to Mauritius i was pretty much in the middle of the aircraft and when i did it some people looked weird at me. So now i guess it would be best to have a seat far back in the plane.

What do you guys think or prefer?
Unless ur in business class it should be aisle seat. Whether is stretching ur legs or having food aisle seat is better, it will be easier to ask for drinks or more room for one of ur arms. you also get to rub ur shoulders with other ppls .....

Never have seat far back in plane , my understanding is that the air circulation is from front to back as such you end up sucking all the bad air. Just take a shot of whisky and go to sleep.

I don't know why, but I've always hated Dulles International Airport.

Maybe because it's super busy being so close to D.C.. I much prefer Richmond International Airport.

Curiously, I've flown international to Reagan National Airport, which doesn't service international commercial traffic.

Runways are too short.
All important locations are near to airport, that why non American flights are not allowed to go there.

Are you writing about Reagan National Airport, right? Not Richmond or Dulles. International traffic is allowed, but only non-commercial flights for smaller aircraft. I flew into Reagan direct from Torp with my dad 11 years ago, when at the time he was a full colonel in the Norwegian Army and was sent to the US.

Reagan does service international traffic, but not commercial airlines, and is relegated to military or law enforcement receiving only.

Not true. Have met many Argentinian and Chileans in other countries, warm hearted people.

Italians actually as well.

You are an exception, :D

Have you ever thought of the foreign service as a career option?
