Israel has announced that Turkey was disturbed by the moves of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Well then i guess Israel will listen to itself and stop violating a number of international laws for the sake of regional stability. :)

Why did Egypt sign a deal with Cyprus that gave up huge areas to Cyprus? Surely Egypt as the dominant country you should have got more, but Egypt gave in to Cyprus.

You should be working with Turkey, Lebanon & Libya, not cosying up to Israel & Greece.

Also Gaza has an EEZ but it is being controlled by Israel. Why doesn’t Egypt act as a guarantor and safeguard Gaza’s gas reserves from Israeli theft.

because they are weak...:-)

Signed between Libya and Turkey 'Marine Jurisdiction Limitation Memorandum of Understanding' was presented to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The memorandum will enter into force after the approval of Parliament.

Elhamdulillah!!! It was Libya, from where the removal of the Ottoman forces by some brainless coup monger folks initiated the Empire’s final collapse. Now, Turkey is again back to Libya to reclaim what’s lost to them due to the treachery of the Imperialists via proxy scums...

Ya Rab, no matter how much we praise YOU it’s always less....

Greece and Turkey closer to armed conflict, say experts

Greece and Turkey have come closer to armed conflict after Turkey's surprise delineation of an Exclusive Economic Zone with Libya, experts tell Al Jazeera.

The agreement, signed on November 27 and unveiled on Thursday, maps out a corridor of water stretching across the eastern Mediterranean between the coasts of Turkey and Libya, cutting across a swath that is also claimed by EU member Greece. EEZs allow countries exclusive rights to exploit natural resources including mineral wealth.

Turkish energy minister Fatih Donmez has announced that, once the agreement is ratified by both sides, Turkish drillships will begin to search there for oil and gas. Although the Hellenic Navy neither confirms nor denies it, two experts tell Al Jazeera that Greece has dispatched naval forces to the disputed area southeast of Crete.

"If a Turkish drillship does show up, our ships would take action against it, and that could lead to an armed confrontation, because these ships are accompanied by naval vessels. And of course that could ultimately lead to war," says a veteran senior diplomat on condition of anonymity.

International public law professor Angelos Syrigos also confirms that Greek naval forces have been dispatched as a deterrent to Turkish exploration.

"There will be no Turkish drillship. It has been communicated to Turkey that we shall not tolerate any exploration in the area Greece considers to be its EEZ," says Syrigos, who also serves as an MP for the ruling conservative New Democracy party.
Greece to go it alone
"We are preparing for all eventualities on all levels," Greek defence minister Nikos Panayotopoulos told Skai News on Thursday, without elaborating. The navy's chief of staff, Admiral Nikos Tsounis, added: "We shall not wait for anyone to come and help us. Whatever we do, we shall do alone."

Turkey, Libya maritime deal sent to UN: Erdogan
Countries inked memorandum of understanding on Nov. 27 which determines their maritime boundaries

Turkey’s maritime boundary delimitation agreement with Libya was sent to the United Nations, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday.

Erdogan said the deal -- already signed by the president -- was ratified by the parliament and published on Saturday’s Official Gazette, going into effect.

On Nov. 27, Turkey and Libya’s Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) signed the bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Speaking at the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party's consultation meeting of provincial heads at Halic Congress Center in Istanbul, Erdogan said Turkey will use its rights under international law and international maritime law till the end on Eastern Mediterranean.

Turkey called on the regional countries to work in a collective manner regarding the distribution of hydrocarbon reserves, which have an estimated value of hundreds of billions of dollars and turn the natural sources into an opportunity to boost bilateral ties and neighboring relations.

However, Ankara’s calls have fallen on deaf ears so far and some countries attempted to isolate Turkey from the energy equation. Turkey maintains drilling activities in the Mediterranean region under escort of the country’s navy elements.

Turkey’s anti-terror operation in Syria

Turkish president went on to say that Turkey would not leave Syria unless foreign countries withdraw from the region or Syrian people demand the country's leave.

Turkey on Oct. 9 launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminate YPG/PKK terrorists from northern Syria east of the Euphrates River in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees, and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

Under two separate deals with the U.S. and Russia, Turkey paused the operation to allow the withdrawal of YPG/PKK terrorists from the planned Syria safe zone.

Prior to this, Turkey led two successful operations, Olive Branch and Euphrates Shield, in northern Syria to rid the region of terrorists.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK's Syrian offshoot.

Expelling Libyan ambassador from Greece "unacceptable": FM
TRIPOLI -- The UN-backed Libyan government official said on Friday that Greece's expelling of the Libyan ambassador is "unacceptable."

"Greece's decision to expel the Libyan ambassador from its territory is unacceptable," Foreign Minister Mohamed Siala told local TV channel Libya al-Ahrar.

Libya's ambassador to Greece was summoned to Greek foreign ministry on Friday morning where he was informed of the decision for his expulsion and was given a 72-hour deadline to leave the country, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias was quoted by Greek national news agency AMNA.

The step was made after Athens decried the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Turkey and Libya on Nov. 27 on the establishment of maritime boundaries in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Greek side said the MoU could infringe upon the sovereignty rights of Greek islands in the Mediterranean.

Siala called on Greece to resort to international law to resolve any dispute regarding the MoU, stressing that "Libya has the right to sign MoUs with whoever it wants."

"Greece has no diplomatic representation in Libya. If there was an accredited Greek ambassador in Libya, we would have taken similar procedure," Siala said.

The European Union demanded the Libyan authorities to explain the contents of the MoU, stressing full solidarity with Greece and Cyprus against Turkey,

IAF, Special Ops complete joint 'Game of Thrones' drill in Cyprus
A week-long international drill involving commandos and the IAF, named Operation Game of Thrones, ended on Thursday in Cyprus, a spokesperson for the IDF said.

Among those who participated were special ops fighters from the Egoz, Maglan and "Duvdevan" units, assault helicopter squadrons, transport helicopter squadrons, drone squadrons, one simulated enemy flight squadron and the Special Rescue Tactical Unit (Battalion 669).

During the drill, commandos and IAF pilots practiced mission-oriented training in the face of threats in an unfamiliar arena in northern-Israel region-based combat scenarios. The drill had IDF and IAF soldiers practicing a wide range of activities including: short single-night raids; combat in hilly, dense and complex terrain; attacking enemy infrastructure; ground force aerial transport; ground force aerial targeting assistance; dropping supplies mid-flight; refueling of helicopters; rescuing abandoned pilots; and evacuating of injured personnel, all the while fighting simulated enemy forces.
During the week, as a side exercise, the commando units, pilots and IAF forces also trained with Cyprus Army soldiers to improve the operational competence of the forces and promote joint learning.

“The combination that was implemented in the exercise between the IAF and the commando units – two bodies that lead the world of joint combat in all terrains and scenarios – has enabled increased effectiveness in multi-branch military maneuvering,” the spokesperson said.

During the week, IDF Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi visited the drill area in Cyprus to watch the combat troops in the field, and talk with the unit commanders about operational issues and challenges that come with an operation so deep beyond enemy lines. In addition, he met with his counterpart in the Cyprus Army, the chief of the National Guard of the Cyprus Army, Maj.-Gen. Elias Leontaris.

The IDF spokesperson said that “the commandos and the Air Force are constantly training and improving at different reference scenarios in joint exercises and missions, both within and outside the State of Israel, in order to be prepared for the challenges they will face in all possible combat arenas and scenarios.”

Palmahim Base Commander Brig.-Gen. Yoav Amiram summarized the week, saying, “It was a complex drill in challenging terrain and weather. In the exercise, the deep partnership of the commandos and the Air Force squadrons was reflected. I was impressed to see their ability to exert deadly and precise force far from the shores of the country.”

Special Operations Commander Lt.-Brig. Kobi Heller also spoke after the drill, saying: “We have completed a unique kind of training, outside the borders of the State of Israel. The exercise included a variety of tasks and scenarios of action, which resulted in the maturation of operational capabilities and processes, which started developing four years ago.

He added, “We emphasized the importance of accuracy and knowing every in-depth detail, but above all, the personal ability of the fighters was the true focus. This drill demonstrated a high level of professionalism and a close, high quality level of collaboration with the Air Force. The exercise showed our developing operational capability, our complete concept of our operations, our developing capabilities in the world of enemy exposure and, of course, fatalities to be able to destroy the enemy at higher rates than before.”
