KF-X Fighter Price Sets at 65 Million USD

Not about the pricing...but strings that leads back to US.

it risks embargo n sanctions should indonesia gets into any friction with US allies (aus, nz) or act in any way against US interests be it direct or by proxy.

And there is nothing S.Korea can do about it.
Neither SK nor indonesia have the capability to develop fighter planes, the price will be determined solely by the US, as the imported parts, armament, avionics, etc won't be cheap, and even it wants to be cheap, the US won't allow for known reason. This price is more like a gimmick to gain attention...

Well there’s always Wonder Woman’s invisible jet. I wonder how much that would go for on the open market?

$65 million isn't a bad price tag. Even J-16 cost around $60 USD million these days.

Well if you buys Chinese fighter, you cannot anger Chinese as well, same when you want to buy fighters from Russia. Indonesia bought huge Russian armament during Soekarno regime and Soeharto regime cannot sustain to maintain them because of Indonesia anti-communist stand at that time.

Indonesia doesnt have any territorial dispute with both Australian and New Zealand and we are unlikely to have military conflict with each other after the raise of big dragon unites us all ........:D

Indonesia/South Korea and USA has alligned interest in Asia Pacific region.

Fighter technology development

Any way this project is the first step for Indonesia to develop jet fighter technology, not only beneficial during the development process but also possibly beyond that. The program will make Indonesia government has strong reasons to set up road map on jet fighter technology development that not only is limited to Indonesian Aerospace which core competencies are in design, fuselage manufacture, integration, and testing but also electronics company like PT LEN Industry and avionics company like PT Info Global.

Any way Indonesian Aerospace also has subsidiary company in turbine sector (PT Nusantara Turbin) that could be engaged for turbo jet technology. As we are speaking now, Indonesia is also undergoing indigenous cruise missile program where turbo jet is also being developed. I am not talking about immediate future, but medium and long term plan at least in span of 15-20 years to come.

Future market in SEA region

While you look like criticizing the program, actually there is big possibility that Malaysia gov has considered to buy this plane, more over after they know the price range which is quite competitive and less expensive than 4 generation fighter like Eurofighter and Rafale (half the price).

I would say Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippinea are potential buyer with at least I predict will buy 100 planes combined for 2030-2036 period alone (in assumption the program is success), not to mention block 2, block 3 and possibly upgrade program from block 1 into block 2 and block 2 into block 3.

What if Pakistan was able to secure American engines, will that entice PAF. I don’t think the US will block the engines for Pakistan given the progress on the Taliban talks.

Pakistan doesn't fit the American chess game. Anything that goes to Pakistan reduces India's comparative weight against the China/Pakistan block. The USA will not add weight to what is already heavier from the Indian point of view. They don't love Indians either, they just want somebody to stand against their enemy China, that is why Quad is made.

The jet is just a hull if the US refuses to deliver the engine, the computer, the gears, the avionics and everything else. Plus, Indonesia stopped paying the money to the Koreans long ago. There is no money.

True, ID'd better focus on making EV car like MY instead. Making jet without the engine is just a waste.

Vietnam can possibly get the jet too if US allows it, there will be concern from US part, particularly due to Viet and Russia strong relationship that possibly allow technology leak to Russia to happen if Vietnam get the jet.

# with the assumption the program is a success and can produce deathly machine in time.

Yup, we are trying to make battery, we have set up state owned battery producer to reach that goal

Price will inevitably double when it comes out..it always happens with projects like these...hard to take so called fixed military prices seriously anymore..

Bro, our strong relationship to Russia is a distant memory. Today the Russians are in bed with the Chinese. Why not invite Vietnam to the project? We have the money. We have factories to make jet engines.
We can make en masse, not much more difficult than making shoes.

The aircraft trainer type on bid is one equipped with a turboprop engine, certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), equipped with a pressurized cockpit, an oxygen supply system, pilot's hats with information display, and modern electronic equipment. The aircraft must have a lifespan of not less than 15,000 flight hours, with external mounts capable of carrying a NATO backup fuel tank in order to have a long training range.

The US Air Force also requires aircraft to ensure relatively low cost-per-hour flight. The bid also has to be accompanied by logistics supply packages, spare parts, ground support equipment, technical support, computer training equipment, basic pilot training under the program of the US Air Force.
