KF-X Fighter Price Sets at 65 Million USD

What American components and sanctions in this aircraft

Well both Korea and Indonesia want to develop their expertise in this jet fighter technology and has already become the OEM of the plane. We could possibly change any component of the plane from domestic or maybe foreign sources in case there is such embargo in the future. This is in the context of both countries keep improving their expertise on the fighter plane technology over time and eager to improve the local content of the plane continuously.

The engine will be produced in Hanwa although for critical part I guess still need supply from GE directly. Even Iran who is not OEM of F 14 can still maintain and operate the plane, but of course such measure is unlikely to happen IMO since both Indonesia/Korea with US has mutual need in Asia Pacific region and face similar threat.

And yes in term of foreign sales, it is only possible for countries that has warm relation with USA.

In term of Indonesia, we will see whether Prabowo present or not in the roll out ceremony. If he is present, there is big chance that Indonesia will still be part of the program.

I dont think at this stage they are going to give any further leak, we just need to wait, inshaAllah the roll out ceremony will happen soon.

That's what I expected ... but anyway, hope is home.

Any idea, when the roll out ceremony will be held?

$65 m is obviously just the flyaway cost. The total cost over a 10-year period will likely be at least $150 m, which would still be low seeing that's the cost of the F-16.

@SQ8 @JamD I bet we'll see dead-end talks (similar to the M2K-era) involving the KFX and the PAF in the next 2-3 years. It's just one of those fighters that will fly by the PAF's table (decent price, perfect configuration, etc). Sadly, a likely dead-end scenario, unless the Americans decide to be merciful for whatever reason.

Well I guess my nation of Bangladesh can get it then , KAI and Indonesia has to come forward for sure and again has to persuade us.

We already bought Indonesian weapons already

Your government has once tried to order SAB Gripen right ? The engine is the same, US made which is F 414 which is also used in Superhornet.

The price is quite good and the belly is already able to have semi-internal weapon bay. Basically the STEALTH mode is when the plane only have 4 AA missile in the belly. This belly is made in modular and look like can be replaced with Block 2 belly modular which will be made with full internal weapon bay, so block 1 seems can be upgraded into block 2.

Just focus on economy and industrialization until 2028 and then Bangladesh can put more focus in building the Air Force. Indonesia also Today chose to hold our Hawk 200 instead of replacing them with newer fighters. Our planning ministry (Bappenas) only approve 1.6 billion USD foreign loan for buying fighters until 2024 for F 5 squadron that have been long grounded. Basically we dont buy any fighters since 2011.

So Bangladesh has 2 options for 5th gen aircrafts , one is the Turkish TFX and the other is the KFX sadly our Air Force leader is slow and lazy and I feel like we will definitely will buy the Eurofighter Typhoon but after that if Indonesia can persuade us enough or (bribe our officials) we might consider getting the KFX

Im not even sure it suits us - it’s still a 4.75 gen based upon the design.

Looks like a J-31 knock off to me :D

J 31 is more like F35 while KFX is like F 22

Yeah, but ironically, that might tilt its availability in our favour. It doesn't 'add' anything the Indians don't already have.

Where do you get that idea from? Those are are almost the exact same size/dimensions. Same DSI placement, same nose cone size, they also appear to have the same class of engine as well.

The F22 is in a whole different league with regards to size/dimension and performance....
