Well take a look at this from 4:40

Its about the Mig-21 Bison
The pilot says that the Mig-21 Bison was "practically invisible" on our legacy fighters (F-16 & F-15) cuz of the jammer etc
now wouldn't the thunder have a similar advantage as the Bison's RCS is 3m2 and Thunders RCS is said by the senior members to be below that of the new F-16 i.e 1.2m2
With Jamming combined with its low RCS it should have the same element of surprise....
Any comments??

Without brining in the IAF into this..
The Mig-21 does present a very small target head on..
the Elta jammers on board are effective at defeating current pulse dopplers.. at BVR ranges.. so coupled with the jammers it was'nt invisible.. rather .. you could not lock on.. the track keeps shifting.
You know its there.. since the Kopyo is tracking you.. but you cant pinpoint it.
However.. due to the fact that it is jamming you.. your jets let you know that it is happening.. therby it gives its presence away.
So yes.. on a jet with a lower RCS.. jamming combined with a good wideband jammer.
Aircraft such as the Thunder and the F-16.. can avoid being targets at BVR.

I dont think the MiG 21 carries any dedicated jammer on board but rudimentary ECM. The MiG 21 Bisons never participated in the Red Flag so we just dont know why he is ranting about the MiG 21 Bisons there. The MiG 21 also carries all its stores externally so it must present an RCS of atleast 2.5 m^2. So I think that guy is just playing to the gallery.

Low cost,sanction free,own platform,more numbers etc are the plus points we get from JF-17 and as Antibody stated it is better than initial F-16's

Even more important than all these advantages in the knowledge base, technical facilities and expert personnel that are being developed as part of this program. All those will have dividends far beyond this project if managed and nurtured successfully.

how do you think Zardari would be eyeing all this? as a forbidden fruit or sour grapes? if these politicians get their way then no enemy has to be concerned about Pakistani armed forces.

it is really an achievement that after all the chaos and Inept leadership we are able to make so much leaps and bounds in Defence industry

Yes.. DSI is a massive advantage in reducing RCS by shielding engine blade and result in better air flow into air inlet.
