mostl likly we did got the TOT for MAR-1

Hi, I am hoping that the JF-17 does get an AESA radar soon. Most modern fighter jets have this technology available and/or can be retrofitted with them.

For example, the Gripen NG now has the SELEX Raven ES-05 AESA radar.

Gripen NG flying with Raven ES-05 AESA radar

actually other than F-22,F-18,F-15 and few F-16s neither the grippen or rafale or eurofighter or the mighty su-30MKI have AESA radar

so most fighters dont have them
gripen NG is still a prototype that has probably no future untill it gets an order, so far even its unlikly from swedish airforce
even if it does happen it wount be before 2020

???
i just said none of european fighters CURRENTLY have aesa radar??
they are PLANNING to do so, but tis still at planning stage just like its in JFT.

An Active Electronically Scanned Array radar first flew in a Typhoon on 8 May 2007, its just they were waiting for a customer with full pockets in a dire need for AESA to finance .

By December 2009, production of the pre-series RBE2 AA radars was underway. The first production Rafale to be delivered with the RBE2 AA will be a Rafale C, scheduled to make its maiden flight in 2012.

Where as in case of JFT we are still not sure about the AESA and if it is not sure whether it will be housed on block-2 or not ,

but i am still true that they still dont have any functional AESA as of today,..how do u know the issue in JFT is also not financial?? we all know china can make AESA radars

i am well aware that future trenches of both typhoon and rafale will have AESA and that there are many avaliable options for AESA from europe even for the JFT(if we can get or pay it) and that if gripen NG gets a customer it will also have an aesa but my point still stands most fighters and none of europen fighter have a functional AESA as of today

Jf17 will get AESA as soon as China makes one that is according to PAF requirements ... Vixen 500 was so far offered which had very less range so uselss...

I think its the issue of cooling, which is delaying the induction of AESA radar into JF-17. The nose has enough space as suggested by senior members to integrate one.

I don't think it could be an issue for the cooling. It could be dealth by anywayz. The problem could be somethingelse or PAF don't wanna have AESA right now, maybe they don't wanna increase the overhead charges......:coffee:

JF-17 Project Director is a liar? I'm asking because when he said we are more than happy with KLJ-V2 and completely satisfied and there will be no AESA in block 2 than how come all members believing rumors?

Blk II won't be having AESA radar. It will be equipped with KLJ-7 V2 and that too is a really potent radar system.
most of the members are a bit over impressed with the AESA. AESA, no doubt a system for future combat aircraft is also a bit exaggerated sometimes...

if PAF is saying they are OK with KLJ, believe it, that is fine enough to protect our skies. PAF is responsible for doing this and they will be flying these planes, if they are confident flying JFT with KLJ to confront enemy, there is no point for us to degrade the KLJ potential.

Again, AESA are a bit exaggerated at times, discuss this with someone with better know how of radars and there working and they will guide you better
:)

Actually people here think is that Pulse doppler cannot lock AESA ....They are indeed wrong ....

yes!
and its not about locking or not being able to lock on.. the main advantage is that it can detect threats without giving away its position EASILY... the thing we dont work or read or learn about is how DIFFICULT it will be to do so.. to detect the AESA...

no questions AESA offer advantages but this DO NOT mean that pulse Dopler, PESA or others are obsolete and of no use..

Eurofighter with its PD radar a few years back locked f22 from certain angle in exercise ... AESA so far has provided only Decrease in RCS ... in the beginning pakistani officials only stated that they might induct AESA soon was because there were wrong info about this radar in the beginning ... klj7v2 has 130 km for 5m^2 so i am pretty sure with this Radar jf17 will be 100% able to detect and engage Su30mki sized targets ... jf17 has been believed to carry only 4000kg of payload which means not much missiles which wont increase rcs more than 3 still badluck for SU30MKi and if u say SU30MKI is this and that honestly RED flag Clearly admitted that TVC is useless in Dogfight though it was believed that it can evade missile by outmaneuvering but THat is also wrong since 5th generation missile have G value of at least 35g and proximity blasting capability which means missiles blasts not on impact but calculates that when it reaches the most nearest position to aircraft and as the distance increases it blasts with fragmentation system of missiles to create a 360 angle blast it is 90sure% it will atleast destroy the wing or ailerons of the wing which then make aircraft not to manuever properly which anyway make them sitting ducks ... I am not saying jf17 will defeat SU30MKI but MKI is 32 million dollar plane and honestly it is because of it has 2 engines with TVC , bigger body and structure to have more amount of payload the block2 is 23 mn$ plane atleast with ratio of engine , size and payload i think JF17 seems expensive as same as mkI ...

Why did you get such an impression from my post? PAF might be happy with the KLJ, maybe because they don't have another option for now, but let us assume they are completely satisfied, question is for how long?
According to senior members KLJ-7 is superior to APG-66 our F-16s have, but is APG-66 (a radar developed in the 70s) should be considered as a bench mark for the KLJ? How about comparing it with the APG-69 of the block 52?

yes!
and its not about locking or not being able to lock on.. the main advantage is that it can detect threats without giving away its position EASILY

Isnt it the single most important factor sir....Survivability? To detect others without giving away your position gives you the edge, all you need to take the enemy down

Apg69 and klj7 has difference of range which u wont see in version 2 of klj7 ... APG69 major thing is Range and SAR .... SAR is in klj7
