Japan’s first international defense show opens in Yokohama

No no no, @Nihonjin1051 , this Yamato battleship version is much more realistic for Japan to export to other countries. Smaller size than the one above and much cheaper for customers. :-)

There are, indeed, hot buyers in the Middle East. You're so direct @TaiShang ! lol.

Niiice!
I prefer this , tho. ;)

On apparatus-to-apparatus comparison, I have every reasons (core techs, advancement of industrialization, craftman-ship, etc) to believe Japanese weaponry will be the best in the world. However unlike other consumption-driven industrial products, Japan has to overcome a lot more challenges in weaponry exports.

Weaponry are purchased by governments with public money, i.e. decided by politicians, hence it's heavily influenced by politics. Despite being a tech/economic giant, Japan has yet little political clout compared with her peer competitors. Say in Middle East, a hot market, politics there are dominated by US and the rest of UNSC P5.

Actual combat experience. Again this gotta do with political clout. Other competitors can lobby their respective governments into controllable regional wars, in order to display their products.

Geopolitical constraints will limit the market size. The French almost succeed in selling the Mistral, but in the end geopolitics dictates the game.

However I am still optimistic with Japan's weaponry exports. In light of a slowly weakening US international influence, the American MIC's might be slowly loosing the clout they used to have, so that Japanese defense contractors can start to fill in the gap with their mind blogging quality products. Initial opportunities might include selling the premium products within the developed world (e.g. UK, Australia, Singapore, SK), the cash-rich GCC states, and selling the cost-effective products to the less developed NATO countries, and geopolitically neutral states in global south.

Japanis hosting its first ever military trade fair, with a particular focus on maritime security at a time of rising regional tensions over territorial squabbles.

The three-day fair, organised by a private British company with the backing of Japan's defence and trade ministries, comes as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pushes to boost the role and capability of his well-equipped military.

The government has also moved to lessen restrictions on the home-grown weapons industry, allowing it to sell more hardware abroad in an effort to boost the sector.

The new rules could allow Tokyo to supply weaponry to nations that sit along important sea lanes to help them fight piracy, an important strategic consideration for resource-poor Japan.

This is a great opportunity for us as a small company to promote our name and products,' said Susumu Kasai, an official with ShinMaywa Industries Ltd. which manufactures US2 Amphibious Planes for Japan's Marine Self-Defense Force.

'Currently the governments of Japan and India are negotiating the issue and if the governments agree, we will be able to export our products,' Kasai said.

'This is a maritime security fair and as maritime security is important for Japan, which is surrounded by seas, the government supports the event,' said defence ministry official Toru Hotchi.

Under Japan's new arms export rules, weapon sales are still banned to conflict-plagued countries that could undermine international peace and security.

Reports have said US2 is likely to become the first export of Japanese-made military equipment under the new rules.

I'm afraid a battleship with that BODY and those CURVES will most likely be used for something very different though...

BTW is that Cassandra from Freezing in your avatar?

these are good quality technologies. but japan now lacks the human factor. aging population will make them much problems in the future.

your population is declining fast.

Yes, I think the body and curves of that Yamato will serve some quite "interesting" purpose for the export customer... lol

And yes, the avatar is Cassandra from Freezing. How do you know that?

. . . .
after the fukushima catastrophy this new arms race will end with a new catastrophy for all of asia.

lel

russians now suffer, but we will soon cease fire with ukrainians and annex remainin parts of novo russia and than we will sit back and watch how asian countries destroy each other for fake hegemony.

yankee pigs will also watch with popcorn and coke.

. .
in your fantasy japan can build mechas and whatnot.

but in reality you can´t even build stealth fighter craft. your project has failed. it is 2015 and still no prototype.

all you can build is some puny F16 copies called mitsubishi F1 or something.

you can just produce consumer goods like cars and phones. nothing special. nothing to be realy proud of.
