Jammu and Kashmir unveils its first women commando squad

Even your Infantry School is called commando school but the training there is less advanced then even an ordinary SWAT Course? Some obsession with the word commando most Indians have.
Don't talk crap when you know squat! A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The Infantry School is called 'commando school'? :woot::omghaha: Where did you get this gem from?

Phew another un educated Commando from the school of Internet Warriors. See the picture I posted and zip up.

What is this Indian Obsession in naming everything and all as commandos?

You're right to call it an "obsession". Every specialist unit is called "commando" in India these days, it is absurd to say the least. The proliferation of the term has diluted the true meaning of the term so much so that the title is now utterly worthless in the Indian context.

@Topic- there shouldn't be these all female units that keep popping up across India. If there is a need for female police officers in specialist units then they should be able to join the male units- setting up an all female unit is just operationally impractical.

That's far from true bro. The Commando school you are referring to is the course all IA infantry officers attend after basic training and officer academy. They are trained in unconventional warfare, E&E, urban warfare, jungle warfare, sabotage, CQB etc etc this is the definition of commando training. SWAT teams are in no way commandos by the traditional definition so comparing them to SWAT is a weird analogy.

I got this distinct impression when I visited their units and it was quite confusing and the real SF Schools in Nahan & Sarsawa were not very happy about that.

I was referring the above Girls team as more of a SWAT team when an Indian member said anyone trained for COIN was a commando.

Crap. Then BSF, CRPF and Mumbai Police all are Commandos. Must be demeaning to the real Commandos.

If you look you will see the "true" commando units in the Indian armed forces that took pride in calling themselves commandos decades ago have since been re-christened "SECIAL FORCES" and have dropped the commando label altogether. As such the IA, IAF and IN are the only true SF units in India. The commando term now is only really used by central and local police force units.

To be fair, I think units like the CRPF COBRAs are more than deserving of the "commando" label.

It's not all that confusing mate. As I've pointed out in my above post #68. There are only 3 SFs and they call themselves SFs-nothing else. Every other specialist unit likes to call themselves "commando"- for reasons I still don't understand, but this is just how it is.

Of course not every person in inida trained for COIN is a commando- if that were true half the IA would be a "commando"!! But like I said the true definition of "commando" has been lost in the Indian context. Every force (local/central police forces) have their specialist units and, more often than not, these specialist units will almost automatically be labelled "commando".

Bro are these Indian and if so what unit?

They are a mixed batch from 5 of the SF units including 1, 9, 10 and other two I cant remember as they were undergoing conversions. This were taken at the Special Forces school in Nahan in the hills.

Occupy a people ??? I though people is "a" plural word Americanoooooo

I did not know pdf mods were recruiting baniyas to serve as the grammar police.

Do not quote me again Endian. ;)

Yeah like we seeing in Balochistan.

I doubt you have seen anything in Balochistan meanwhile I am just giving the Indian member a reason for the hostility he felt in IOK. :)
