Sistemi Integrati has signed a contract with the Indian Cochin Shipyard Ltd for supply of radars for the new aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati will deliver an air surveillance naval radar RAN 40L and an IFF radar which will equip the new Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC), INS Vikrant, under realization for the Indian Navy.
The RAN-40L is a 3D long range early warning radar with fully solid state active phased array antenna able to assure the detection of aircrafts up to 400 kilometers.
The philosophy of the radar
design has been intensively proven on the land
based 3D RAT-31DL, the most long range
surveillance radar ever provided worldwide to the
NATO Countries
SELEX Sistemi Integrati has been in India since
1972 with its own radar systems. In the naval
field, the Finmeccanica company supplied three
command and control systems in 1984 for the
Godivari and Bramaputra class frigates, besides
the relevant logistic support. More recently,
following this long standing relationship, SELEX
Sistemi Integrati also realized radars and systems
for air traffic control to be set up in the airports of
Bangalore and Hyderabad. The company is also
providing the Indian Navy and Air Force with the
PAR2080C system, a Precision Approach Radar.

I thought the radar for the VIKRANT was to be the same one that is on the Kolkata class (IAI 3D AESA).

. . . . . . . . .
I thought the radar for the VIKRANT was to be the same one that is on the Kolkata class (IAI 3D AESA).

The Elta MF-STAR radar (INS Kolkata one) will be there and this RAN-40L is in addition to it.

I think AC will also house a LRTR and that one will be i think from Elta.

I thought it will be LRTR but now seems like it is RAN-40L. If not LRTR, I was expecting minimum SMART-L/S1850M.

Why two different kind of long range radars..? And if LRTR is to be installed- We can install our own Swordfish...
It is not LRTR any more, it is RAN-40L. One for air search, one is fire control radar.

So for Vikrant it is....

MF-STAR + RAN-40L
