His Islamization of Pakistan out of fear of Communism, Arming the Mujahideen to fight the Soviets later fractions become Taliban and several extremist Groups, the Blasphemy Law that got 2 of Pakistan's Politicians killed, the Radicalization of Pakistan, bombing has become a regular way of life thanks to his Islamization, Do Pakistani's Blame him ?

He is one of the big factors in why things are what they are in Pakistan but there are other factors too such as: corruption, extremist funding from Saudi Arabia, war in Afghanistan, Afghan refugees,U.S policies, etc that have played a big role.

Other factors came into play only because he allowed it. If he had the will, none of other factors had the capacity to make the effects.
So i will give him the blame upto 85% for present condition of paksitan.

did u forget berzensky??, regan and senior bush, BWHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, lolllzzz for 85%

he allowed what??, 85% belongs to america alone, 10% belongs to musharraf, other 5% belongs to general zia only because he trusted the afghans and let them in without any restriction

i dont think u should speak on matters you are so lowly educated on

General Zia died more than 20 years ago. The U.S. meddling in Pakistan is the reason why Pakistan is in trouble today. TTP and suicide bombings are a new nuisance in Pakistani soil. There were no suicide bombings in Pakistan in the 80's, 90's or the early '00's.

How can a man dead for more than 20 years have so much power.

Zia ul Haq is not to entirely blame but yes he was a factor (as mentioned above) forgive me if i am mistaken fellow Pakistani friends wasn't Zia ul haq the one who had Ali Bhutto executed and put down democracy in Pakstan for several years until his death? he also persecuted Shia's if i'm not mistaken

Because he's the one who set the ball in motion by intertwining state and religion in Pakistan

State and religion were intertwined the day Pakistan was made. It was made because the Muslim minority in India had suffered under the Hindu majority's rule in the govt that was formed in British India in the late 30's. They were afraid of what would happen after the Britishers were gone and weren't there to limit the Hindus anymore. And that proved to be correct, in India every minority even big ones, like Muslims still living there and Sikhs, even lower-caste "untouchable" Hindus suffer brutally. Various sacred places of all these minorities have been torched to the ground, Christians were actually burnt alive in a famous incident.

Gen Zia is blamed for "starting this mess", "getting Pakistan involved in Afghanistan's problems". That is a silly point of view. Afghanistan has very few resources to offer, the real aim of the Soviets was to access the warm water ports of Pakistan. Many important Soviet naval ports were frozen much of the year and it was a major limitation for them. Rather than fighting a war for Pakistan's survival in Pakistan(fighting on two fronts is immensely difficult even for very well-equipped armies like Hitler's Germany - The Soviets were heavily arming Indos with MiG-25s and MiG-29s and other latest-gen armnaments to prepare for that two-front scenario, that Pakistan dreaded). Rather than fighting for Pakistan's survival in Pakistan, he chose to help our Afghan neighbors and fight for Pakistan's survival there.

People blame all this terrorism, bomb blasts and everything that's going on in Pakistan on Gen Zia. The fact of the matter is, the 90's were relatively peaceful and quiet. This terrorism only started when another superpower, the US this time, came over and squatted next-door. And now we're getting these well-funded and well-supplied terrorists crossing into Pakistan from Afghanistan again. They do things forbidden in Islam, that no good Muslim would ever do, like tricking 8-year-olds into carrying bombs, bombinb Mosques and places of worship, targetting women, children, and non-combatants. The Afghan Mujahideen never did this - this type of warfare is unprecedented in Muslim history.

The bottomline is that the US plays a very dirty game. They used Pakistan in the 80's, and imposed severe sanctions when they didn't need us anymore. And it looks like they're almost through with us again. When they were failing in Vietnam, they placed all the blame on neighboring Cambodia, doing all sorts of things to make Cambodia look unstable and then bombing "terrorists" in Cambodia for helping the Vietnamese who were beating the US. In this war, it looks like we are their "Cambodia". They are not a fighting army - they're full of High School students looking to go to college on the govt's dime, their media feeds them propaganda of glory and honor about how great the US army is. And then, in the battlefield they can't fight ragtag Afghans who have no airforce, proper army, and aren't even equipped properly.

That's what's happening in Pakistan today. Zia dealt with the US on even terms, they were not allowed to degrade Pakistan like this. This government on the other hand, the US facilitated their election. Current president couldn't even come to Pakistan because of corruption and embezzlement cases against him - he would have been sent to jail. So the US got Mush to "forgive" that, that whole NRO "National Reconciliation" trick, even Musharraf's folks say that the US pressured them into doing that. And then booted Mush out, as this government is even more pliant in front of them.

In India when VP Singh was the PM for petty , narrow & short sighted reasons he accepted the recommendations of a commission ordered decades ago whose findings were shelved by so may PM's before him . It was called the Mandal Commission . The nation shall continue to feel the ill effects of the decision taken by the then PM for generations to come.

Similarly, what Zia did was to let out the genie of fundamentalism in Pak . He did this to perpetuate himself - he would have continued had it not been for the crash.

Religion was the basic theme for creation of Pakistan. Yet leaders since 47 begining with Jinnah and even dictators like Ayub & Yahya had kept it within limits. Zia by uncorking the genie let it loose leading to irreversible damage to the nation which no leader can undo.

Correction mujahideens were taught jihad, trained, armed and funded by US not Pakistan. Groups that you are mentioning came out after 1990 when mujahideen kill team was disbanded and internal power struggle started in afghanistan.

Pakistan is not radicalized, some people and their followers are, it is unfair to drag whole of Pakistan.

Refer to list of bombing in Pakistan 2001 till date List of terrorist incidents in Pakistan since 2001 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clearly after arrival of US/NATO in afghanistan Pakistan started suffering these terrorist bombing incidents.

Yes Pakistan blames zia for the unrest but also the blames goes to US from the day of afghan-soviet war till date.

No doubt Gen Zia is responsible for most of the worst going on here. Before 1978 there were perfect relationship between Pak and Afghanistan.Afghanistan was not a friend of Pakistan. They made huredles in our way e.g they opposed our UN membership, supported baloch insurgents, gave rise to Paktoonistan issue, gave space to our enemies, arose border issues etc but we responded them accordingly.
Zia neglected all the past just for extending his rule with the help of USA.He entred the afghans which led to AK-47 culture and crimes and drugs.
He redicalized our moderate society.
