Iran and India enjoy "deep brotherly relations" :Ahmadinejad

Question for Indians....whose relations do they value more?

Iran or Israel?

Iranians have a transactional relationship with Indians. No different to the one we have with America. It can not be and will never be strategic cos Indians have chosen America/Israel.

While ours may be a business relationship, you will find that Pakistan and Iran can never be all-weather friends either. While many Pakistanis admire Ahmedinejad for standing up to the West, your politicians will never cozy up to him. It is not different from many Arabs admiring the man, but we know what their rulers think of him.

In fact, if and ever NATO leaves Afghanistan, Pakistan-Iran relations will get strained. We all know who picks which sides, and Pakistan will side with the Taliban any day over a so-called strategic alliance with Iran.

Different purposes, different relations. Diplomacy is the operative word.

Your knowledge about the dyamics of Pakistan are limited.

Just stick to the topic guys.

This Irani-Bharti bhai bhai.

Last time I checked, you were a major non-NATO ally which also includes Israel. India has diplomatic relations with all countries - Iran, Israel and Arabs. If you feel disappointed that your leaders pale in comparison with our diplomacy, that is not our fault. But for heaven's sake, do not manufacture facts to suit your theory.

When self-professed regional analysts start bringing Pakistan into the topic without understanding anything about the Afghan dynamic, I am compelled to comment. In any case it is about India and Iran, so please heed your advise and stay on topic.

We will see the depths of Iranian-Indian friendship in the UN.

Until then cheers.

There is nothing really to say.

India is trying to run away from Iran due to U.S pressure and Iran is trying NOT to loose its major trading partner that is the only hope of keeping its economy going...

India and China are f-ing Iran in two ways:

1. They blackmail Iran and get cheap petroleum/gas
2. They get extra trade deals from America as it tries to wean them away from Iranian oil.

And Iran is happy to get f'd because of their lack of diplomatic skills. Ayatoolahs are good in religious and I respect that aspect. But politics and diplomacy is not the cup of chai for the Moolahs. They are too stubborn to understand this world.

while we would like to see our relations develop exponentially with a peaceful Iranian regime, so far, we haven't really had much, to be proud of from our relations with Iran, which have mainly been about oil and recently the chabahar port, while our relations with Israel are pretty much in your face: '71, '84(kahuta), 99.

Actually I agree with you.

Pakistanis have for some weird reason been on the vanguard of Arab/Islamic causes. I assume this had to do with our confused identity crisis of being different than Hindu India and being close to Muslim Arabs. But that has meant we have made enemies of those countries which have nothing to do with Pakistan nor any animosity towards it such as Israel and Iran.

That has meant that we have driven our enemies such as India closer towards those nations.

We should have from the start adopted a neutral policy like Turkey and used our diplomatic clout to negotiate conflicts which would have raised our esteem around the world.

In the 1950's, Pakistan was seen a neutral country and during the Korean War, Pakistan was even selected to arbiter the conflict and even as a location to exchange American and Chinese prisoners from the conflict.
