Simply put, India is too big, and now too powerful militarily, to ignore an longer. Yes, economically, there is still a ways to go. But you cannot have a nuclear power, a top 3 military force, a nation with 1/6th of humanity, not on a strategic world security council.

what does that even mean? there are small, big, rich, poor, all types countries on earth. pakistan is a sovereign country just like india. laws of gravity apply on everyone.

they had their seats de facto after winning ww2. we are debating adding seats. which india hasn't gotten, should not get, and will not get because the reasons mentioned previously. kashmir, pakistan, and china. india needs to solves its disputes, liberate the kashmiri people and be a peaceful nation rather than a hostile one that threatens and wages war upon its neighbours.

Yes China still hold the veto power even with India join club, do you think China want to deal with one more membership bickering over all the issue UN related? One more nation China have to convince in the UN for all initiative push forward by China, another member that China have object to the issue involve in the UN. Since India without the veto power, India can influence the UN but can not approve the UN decision.

We've been over this. Neither France nor China were victors. They were in fact defeated and occupied very very early into the war. And both were liberated at the end of the war by the actual victors.

I agree with you on this. India needs to get richer and climb some places on the GDP ladder to make a more meaningful push.

Otherwise it would be like a poor kid invited to a party of the rich. Embarrassing for everyone all around.

There will be financial demands that would be expected to be met by a permanent member. I don't know how they decide the quantum, what pro rata equation, etc. But the bottom line is right now we have needs internally, and the burden might be difficult to honor and save face at the same time.

Not about poor nation invite to join the exclusive rich and powerful club, UN is an organization never get all it member to agree with anything, majority case of UN resolution deal with major crisis, territory conflict, war. Never have UN solved any major crisis brought forth to the UN to solve.

UN an organization don't recognize it members base on the financial contribution, if base on financial contribution why didn't Russia and China kick out from the UNSC? Russia did defraud after Soviet collapse, China wasn't a rich nation in the 50's up to 2000's.
