Su-30MKI and Su-35 fighter aircraft

China’s recent agreement with Russia to acquire 24 Sukhoi Su-35 aircraft is of interest to New Delhi as it would face off against India’s Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter in any contingency planning by the air forces of the two countries.

The Su-30 was a top-line fighter aircraft when it was procured by India and is beginning the season of upgrades soon, the brand new Su-35 may be a notch higher. Even though after their upgrade, the Su-30 would have the specs of the next version of the Su-35, possibly a Su-36, aviation experts believe.

The similarities between the present Su-30 MKI and the Su-35 are they carriy 12 hard-points, besides 8,000 kgs of external ordnance, pulling a maximum of 9G. They have the same air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons package; has thrust vectoring engines and can house external jammers of all varieties and all kinds of pods.

This is where the similarities end and the differences begin. The Su-35 carries maximum internal fuel capacity of 11,500 kgs, while the Su-30 MKI has 9,640 kgs. In terms of operating range, there is a difference of a mere 600 kms: Su-35 with 3,600 kms and Su-30 MKI with 3,000 kms. The max altitude they could climb is 17.3 kms (Su-30 MKI) and 18 kms (Su-35); and max speed (Su-30 MKI) – 1.9 Mach and Su-35 – 2.25 Mach (this is a crucial difference in case of a dog fight on after-burners).

The Su-30 MKIs canards are a necessity because of its heavy IRBIS radars (Phased Electronically Scanned Array Radar – PESA), while the Su-35 do not need canards as its radars are lightweight.

certainly not right now but after upgrade to super sukhoi that will include aesa radar, diff will be much less.

.
Indian needs of war time doctrines is ably fulfilled by SU30MKI that's why India has been declining the Russian offer of sale of su35 to India since past many years

The difference is not so vast so as to justify a seperate Su-35 indcution. And when the Super MKIs are in service the Su-35 will actually be inferior.

Some of the Su-35's so-called advantadges come because it is single seat (hence able to carry more fuel) but this discounts the utility of having a WSO that can be enormously advantageous.

.
Probably Not now but after Super Sukhoi upgrade gap will be much less.

He forgot to mention about the vedic capabilities of MKI's .. which make them basically a star fighter.. :cheesy:

When did Indian become expert in aviation? Can you trust an Indian expertise regards to aviation?

Another J-10 Crashes and again China tries to hide
Chinese Defence community is reporting crash of another J-10A fighter aircraft belonging to PLAAF. According to available news, PLAAF J-10A crashed on Nov. 19 in Anji County of Zhejiang Province in China. the pilot, Lu Yaogui, ejected but later died from injuries.this is the second J-10A crash this year.
Jet is said to be the 19th aircraft from the 6th production batch. last year a new Advanced Prototype variant dubbed as J-10B crashed in Pi County (Pi Xian) near Chengdu city in Sichuan province.
Since its first flight in 1998, J-10 has seen a rise in aircraft crashes which are not widely reported. the development phase of J-10 has proven to be torturous which also saw the crash of Second 02 Prototype at very beginning in its developmental stage.
Since 2010, there have been 5 to 6 accounted crashes of J10 and Two have been reported this year alone. Many Western Defence Analysts have said in past that pitfalls of reverse engineering without paying royalty and truly understanding the technology are leading to higher accident rates for a fighter aircraft which is relatively new and has lesser flying hours, lack of media freedom in China also means many of the crashes are not reported and the ones which are reported only when there is civilian casualties or damage to infrastructures which are leaked on local Social media

How does this related to prove Indian is expert in aviation? You want me dig up more humiliating crashed rate of IAF?

And how many India made aircraft has exported? You dont even export a plane and India become expert in aviation? Hahaha...

Highly doubtful that the Chinese Su-35 purchase, if true, was borne out of a need of capability. The Su-30MKI should be comparable to the J-15S, J-11B, or perhaps J-16 already.

.
i would be reassured if it was Russian aviation expert. i doubt this "expert" has seen an su-35 in person where as a Russian expert would have seen an mki and and su-35
