Indian Navy in talks with france for 2 mistral Class LHD Ships

Only one shipyard is capable of building carriers and the one in Kochi. Vizag yard won the LPD tender for Turkish ship. Seems they have updated the yard to build large ships but they are yet to be tested.

100 is not coming. IAF is strict on MRFA as it would bring some technologies.
The GoI wants to order another 36 and be done with it and order Tejas Mk2 for all MRFA. The problem being even if 72 or 90 is ordered, what technologies will Dassault share with us? They still hasn't shared anything or invested in offsets according to the original 36 anyway. As of now it's confusion overrated. Navy wants to see where this tender goes for its own 36 MRFA order which it reduced from 57.
GRSE can build 24,000 tonne ships and MDL is looking for expansion for ngd and ngf

Basically you haven't contradicted me so I don't understand your post.

Relief and evacuation. As of now we have smaller ships capable of carrying troops.

The latest war in Yemen, Indian citizens we're evacuated in destroyers/frigates in multiple trips. If we had an capable Lhd/lpd we could have evacuated in a single go. When isis took over Iraq, Libyan war, we had to send our destroyers and frigates to pick up people when air route became impossible.

As for war, it can help in moving things to Andamans etc. Can be repurposed as drone ships, heli ship as well anyway

I will always advocate IN for having minimum 5+ LHD/LPD of 40k tonnes and 5 AC of 65k tonnes for future plans.

I think that these are lpd cum lhd

Yes

India isn't having 5 carriers till 2070-80. For sure, until unless a huge war breaks out. Even the new INS Vishal would only be built as a replacement for INS Vicky. INS Vicky life is 30 years only. It's hull already 30 years old anyway.

IN though likes 4 LPD , MoD has reduced it to 2 now. So we don't know when even these 2 would be placed.

Don't worry by 2030 situations will force IN to think about having them and LPD programme will bear its fruits by that time.

The government is realizing that navy is absolutely crucial for a rapidly growing economy like India to protect the countries interest. We can clearly see that in this years defense budget

This year budget is like a surge budget for the navy as they had the lowest share of budget in the last 4-5 years. Hope they get the MCV ships order from SK and P75I. Along with 26 Aircrafts they are the priority.

But no we are not definitely getting 5 Aircraft carrier. IN has been asked to.concentrate on SSBN and SSNs.

There is news indian navy will order two LHD ships for sure

Im sure due to growing ties with french Mistral suits indian needs because french wont hinder india for using its major ASW halo KA 52 unlike usa

Mistral with MH 60 and KA 52 will be deadly for oak submarines

The government did say that a third aircraft carrier is a necessity

Govt has cancelled order of P75I and is now developing a subpar anti submarine system instead to promote make in India. We are jumping from one extreme to another. On one side we have a government that did little to develop local defense industry (even sabotaged it) and import everything so it can receive kickbacks from foreign arms merchant and other side we have government that doesn't to import almost nothing and replace it all with less capable locally made products even when it can put national security at risk.

Professional beggars with there big begging bowl begging something big

We won't have 3 operational carriers. Even by liberal estimate by the time we commission Vishal, Vikramaditya would be very close to retirement.

Their focus is landing a force near Karachi after beating through the A2/AD systems. Their plans aren’t flawed but their execution is.
Once they fix the execution aspect which requires a cultural change then Pakistan is done for.
You do realise that a culture change is an extremely unlikely event?

Of course you realise it.

This makes no sense - surely India would not buy this class of ship - but design and build herself - given that she can now build destroyers and Aircraft carriers

Does seem to go against the "make in india" for something that they have the capability to build...

(corrections above).
Not considering the rate of production in India.

India is thought to be raising another amphibious brigade, which would total 7000 troops from the original 3000-3500 of 91 Inf Bde. It has to be seen how many Indian troops are capable to assault and land in the first wave. The Marcos will be the first ones to arrive and secure a landing zone or take a bridgehead where other forces would land and start offensive. The tricky part is supplying this force which will be burdened to IN through sea or IAF through air. 91 Inf Bde has light forces (9 Sikh LI), mechanized infantry (BMP-2) and 5th Armored Regiment (T-72s). there would be some form of artillery too. Indian coast line is multiple times the coast of Pakistan and India holds many islands under its control.
Over 7,500 kms.

India is more worried about coastal defence than about amphibious landings against others. You can imagine the amount of money needed to defend this coast line.
India wants to open several fronts against Pakistan in case of war and amphibious warfare is one of them. If PM are deemed incapable of thwarting a landing then 5-Corps will need to divert assets here. Its the PN on which hopes are pinned to keep IN and Indian amphibious forces at bay.

Not with this current regime unless they hire or appoint the right people. Problem is that any current or future Rommels, Guderians or Manekshaws of India may not agree with the policies of the current government or they may not even be created in this environment.
