Indian Navy concerned over Bangladesh's decision to buy two submarines from China

Good to know that Bangladeshi military officers are as delusional as some of their civilian counterparts. He was able to see the submarine from his plane? :sarcastic: Who needs P-8 Poseidon when you can get super Bangladeshi officers who can just see through the water and detect a submarine.
talk about yourself , still your navel officers say IN can not detect Chinese sub :sarcastic:

By the say, are you sure the Russians agree you to using their nuclear submarine for anti-BD mission?

Only if you could understand English, because my post clearly says that the Eastern Command is preparing to take on Chinese and hence the Russian Nuke Sub is in Eastern Command.

A Bangladeshi airforce plane detected an Indian sub via throwing pressure cookers in the water.

No no the sub was surfaced cause as per International law when the sub enters someone's waters illegally it has to surface.

and how come the Bangladeshi's knew the sub is in their waters to begin with?

We should have bought these Lungi wearing BDeshis
:chilli:

I said SOUTH of Australia.
There is thousands of kilometres of Ocean between Australia and Antarctica.
Another wet dream of Indians destroyed

LOL...south of australia??you mean by bypassing Australia??you nuts???you want to go to Indian Ocean through seas next to Guam???USA's Largest base in Pacific???yup, another wet dreams of mine was destroyed.. :omghaha::haha:

take a good look at this map...

US Military Bases on Guam in Global Perspective グアム米軍基地を世界的視野で眺める :: JapanFocus

they're massively expanding Guam as their main base in Pacific..

then comes Australia, and even if they cross through the gap of Australia and Antarctica, then again they've to face Diego Garcia and Cocos Islands and Australian Navy before they come anywhere near Indian Navy..in one word.......LOL...thank god you're not a military planner..

Err.... someone in the Eastern command wants more funds. The Chinese origin of the proposed submarine purchase will be helpful in getting the attentions of the powers that be. After all, a Chinese sub might be sneaking in pretending to be a BD sub. Net result, more attention on BD and not of a pleasant type. If the Indian navy sees BD as a threat, BD vessels will be getting some very close attention. Not a good place to be, except for some non-resident internet warriors.

That may very well be true, but statements such as "why does BD need submarines" are not required. We are a regional power and need to act like one and not make paranoid public statements....being safe than sorry is good, but we need to keep our cards close to our chest and not blurt out everything that crosses our mind...

On the shame lines, having been accused of creating an arms race in the subcontinent, we cannot make such statements as it then legitimizes the accusations against us when we make high ticket weaponry

Quite honestly rubbish reporting from TOI. First they tell they are concerned about BD buying submarines, then the topic shifts fully to China and her activities in Bay of bengal. And our (some) bangladeshi friends start to visualize, dream (what not) to convey india is opposed to them..

Why would US and Australia interfere in any conflict between China and India anyway!

I was primarily referring to SSNs btw..

But in times of war, China could easily send carrier battle-groups to the Indian Ocean by travelling between Australia and Antarctica. There makes your listening posts and bases in the Indian Ocean useless. It will take maybe two extra weeks but it will mean that the Chinese have a better chance of safely getting to the Indian Ocean from China.

they don't have to..the detection is more than enough.what do you think,in case of any hostilities, any CBG that is heading towards IOR via any path will go unnoticed???do you even know about security co-op level between various countries??and do you think our country is as blind as BD is??we have dozens,if not more "Eye in the Sky"..listning stations aren't for ship detection.its for SIGINT.and our Navy Base???our Naval and Airforce aircrafts has range to go to Australia and back without breaking any sweat.Game will be over far from Indian shore in case of War.you should study how aircrafts ,ships and sats are going to be used than posting gibberish here..

Which type of sub BD navy gonna induct? I think BD navy need at least 6 subs to reinforce its existence in the region. India has pathetic number of subs which means they are just watching. P8A might be a trouble, but the number is also very limited. India will get used to it in the future when BD is getting more and more stronger and closer to China. 054A frigate is also open for BD navy if you guys love it.

Bangladesh is one of China's most trusted friend in the sub-continent.

India shall never try to intervene BD's decision to buy subs as BD is a independant country.

Thank you for your support:cheers:

The problem right with BD is that the country is still a bit too poor to be putting in orders for modern Chinese weapons across the board.

BD's defence spending is only 3 billion dollars a year. This is a very tiny amount.

With money like this you can only focus on one real area at a time and currently the Navy is being prioritised. That is why you are seeing heavy purchases from China of both corvettes and frigates. After the BD Navy has started training on the Type-035G submarine that will be leased(?) from China then you will see an order for more modern submarines.

With an economy at 150 billion dollars, and even if it grows at the expected 7% a year for next 5 years, money will still be tight and so orders for a frigate like the Type-054A may not be forthcoming till the end of the decade as BD may want to focus on it's air-force in year or two.

Currently the only decent aircraft in the air-force are the 8 Mig-29 and they need to be modernised. After the 24 YAK-130 and 8-9 Chinese trainer are inducted, it would be logical to put in an order for 3-4 squadrons of 4th generation aircraft - my personal favourite is J-10B if China would sell it to BD.

If the economy keeps improving at current rates, then expect much more substantial purchases of modern weapons from China in the next decade.
With China's help, BD will finally build a decent military.:china:

The point is not whether India will know the route of the CBG but what on earth is India going to do to defeat it?!

My point is that Indian posters are banging on about their bases in the Indian Ocean being able to stop the Chinese CBGs from being able to enter in the first place, when in fact the Chinese can just go to the IOR in-between Australia and Antarctica.

you missed the point..we're not saying IOR is India's property, but our bases are ready to face any challenge.IOR is international water,so anybody can venture on it.but if it bears any threat, our assets can neutralize it.as far as Mallacca Strait is the topic,we're sitting right in the mouth of the choke point.as far as your route, they've to face Air Attacks from A&N before reaching within 1000km of Indian shores.
