I am sure IN had thought about this long time back, a lot more subs, frigates and destroyers are already in the making. Indian Navy has planned to have three operational battle groups by 2020. So even if each battlegoup has 4 frigates and one sub, Indian navy would need lot more newer frigates and submarines in the next eight years.

don't worry bro our CBG will only consist 1 or max 2 frigates, 1 destroyer, 1 covertee , 1 fleet tanker anyways 7 P-17A follow on frigates of improved shivalik class are on order.
Our naval planners are way alot smarter.

well Indian carrier group consists of 5 big ships & 2-3 support vessels, the five ships include 2 destroyers + 2 frigates + 1 sub (maybe 2 for bigger ACs like INS Vikrant), If we consider that India will have 3 carrier battle group, there are already many frigates, destroyers & subs are on order so that a formidable carrier group can be formed.

as far as frigates are concerned, India will be having (till 2020) - 9 talwar class + 3 shivalik class + 4-5 P-17A + 3 Brahmaputra class + 1 or 2 Godavari class = 21 or 22 frigates ( of which 6 will be needed for CBG)

Destroyers - 3 Delhi class + 1 or 2 Rajput class + 3 Kolkata class + 2-3 P-15B = around 10 destroyers (of which 6 will be needed for CBG)

submarines - 5 kilo class + 2 akulas + 3 arihant class + 9 (6+3follow on) scorpene class + 4-5 P 75I = 24 submarines ( of which again only 6 will be needed for CBG).

so i don't think there will be shortage of ships for supporting Indian Carrier group effort in the future

Structure of various navy CBG across the world with 1 aircraft carrier common in all.
US Navy structure- 2 Guided Missile Cruisers, 2 Anti Aircraft Warships, and 1-2 Anti Submarine Destroyers or Frigates with 1 SSN.

French structure-one Rubis Class SSN
two anti-submarine destroyers (currently F67 or F70 class)
one or two anti-air destroyers (Horizon class destroyers) or Cassard class destroyers)
one stealth frigate in forward patrol (usually a La Fayette class)
one supply ship

Italian structure-two "Durand de La Penne" class destroyers, two support ships Etna and Elettra, and three amphibious/support ships (San Giusto, San Marco and San Giorgio).

Spanish structure-two escort squadrons: the 41st, with ASW Santa Maria class frigates, and the 31st, with AEGIS Álvaro de Bazán class AAW frigates.

Indian structure-The Indian Navy's CBG usually consists of two destroyers (usually of the Delhi Class, previously Kashins were used) and two or more frigates, (usually a combination of Brahmaputra, Talwar or Shivalik class) and one support ship.

Russian structure-Kirov class cruiser (CGN), Slava class CG, Sovremenny class DDG (ASuW), Udaloy class DDG (ASW) and Krivak I/II FFG (ASW).

Brazil structure- 4 Frigates from Type-22/1 Class Frigates and Vosper Mk.10 Class Frigates (known as Niteroi Class), 1 or 2 Tupi Class Submarine, and one NT Almirante Gastão Motta Replenishment Oiler.

My preference- 1 Anti Submarine Destroyer or Frigate with 1 SSN for fleet protection against submarines, two anti-air dedicated destroyers with anti ship as well as land attack capability(1 cruiser with land attack & anti ship capability if possible),one stealth frigate & corvette in forward patrol ,one supply & support ship,1 multi role amphibious ship.
