Indian chopper forced to land in Olding, Pakistan, after violating airspace

I am waiting for someone to come up with a bright idea that this was an Indian ploy to gauge the response time of PAF on an intrusion like this to plan future Ops... I am surprised that no one has so far(unless I missed it in last few pages)...

they'd be pretty suicidal to ''test'' PAF while flying an old junk chopper that isn't even armed....

such theories should be laid to rest i think. I believe it was a mistake. The indians already know PAF response times very well, and they know they must avoid Pakistani air space at all costs.

According to my sources, the heli was not forced to land , rather it was running out of fuel after wandering around in the valleys of the sector, and saw a helipad, and as it was running out of fuel, landed there. Why else would we also refuel the heli?

refueling was probably just a courtesy move

The Time of India states that the chopper was some 20 km's inside Pakistani Airspace........It took Pakistan so long to respond that the heli traveled 20 k's inside, what kinda response is that? Someone earlier posted that AEWACS had picked up the heli deep inside Indian Air Space so why did it take so long for the PAF to respond if they were monitoring movements inside Indian Air Space??
Brother that was a chopper not a motor cycle. You can calculate time by yourself from following data
Performance -Aérospatiale Alouette III

Maximum speed: 210 km/h (130 mph)
Cruising speed: 185 km/h (115 mph)
Range: 540 km (335 miles)
Service ceiling: 3,200 m (10,500 ft)
Rate of climb: 4.3 m/s (850 ft/min)

Relax it was an efficient and prompt response

They just had a visit..to Pakisthan......And it was not forced to land....They landed themself due to bad weather and informed pak army that they landed wrongly

I mean, why weren't PAF jets/attack heli's scrambled when the IAF heli was 10 km's inside Indian Air Space and its heading determined to be Pakistan? Shouldn't we be a lot more vigilant and a lot more aggressive in defense especially under current circumstances?

Brother in normal circumstances one can see or hear chopper flying on the other side, so straying is not that a big issue. If the purpose would have been to shoot this heli, the same could have been done within no time by ground forces. Probably you don't have idea about the area.

This incident ( mature response by Pakistani Forces) has generated lot of goodwill.....I can sense and see it around.

I wish more such incidents happen on both sided of border to establish impressions on common people minds that humans live on both sides of border.

I agree, but hey, since when did we need logic to bicker on the forum ? :)

no need to bring up mumbai attacks or any of that unrelated stuff here.....

good work to the Armed Forces for being alert, and demonstrating professionalism.

As per the British Attache in Pakistan, the helicopter landed in poor visibilty and low on fuel on a landing strip they thought was their forward post in India. A soldier in Khakhi came running out and saluted them before realising that it was not a PA / PAF helicopter. Pointed a gun and raised an alarm. A IInd Lt present on the scene was very courteous and reported the same to his Batco while seating them in his personal /official tent. PAF jets were scrambled 45 mins later. Prove me wrong Mr. Army Man.

However there is no denying both the Govt's handled it in a mature way and the kudos in this go to Pakistan.

Regards

first three lines are awesome, looks like hollywood movie:rofl:

Pakistan thanked India for supporting it in UNSC

We must all be proud of our Armed Forces in their professional and quick response to the indian intrusion - from the AWAC controllers, to our fighter pilots, to our soldiers and airmen who interrogated the indians and took them into custody.

Actually you should be worried as PAF had absolutely no role in this, otherwise we would have RT recordings and Gun Camera footage.

It did, and it did well - we salute our valiant armed forces. :pakistan:
