All defence journos should be made to fly Mig 21s so that they learn to take their jobs seriously.

Doesn't look like they are "warships" per se but fleet support ships (FSS)- which are naturally equally as important as a combat vessel.

@Penguin Any idea which Russian origin FSS this will be? I'm a little dissappointed it has gone to Russia, I was hoping for the Brave class from DCNS for the IN.

I suspect it may be replenishment oil tankers such as the one being built for the Russian Navy as part of Project 23130 'Medium seagoing tanker'. Or the pair of slightly larger (+15m in length, + 3m width) Project 23131 'universal seagoing tanker'. The former looks more like an OAR, the latter more like a straight tanker. So, I'm leaning more towards 23130.

Project 23130 is considered a medium-sized tanker and it is designed to store and transport fuel as well as dry cargo. The Indian order would allow their production to continue, making for a larger production run, which lowers unit cost as development costs can be spread over more ships.

Main engine to be installed at the head tanker project 23130

On the “Nevsky Shipyard” in Schlusselburg installation of the main engine on the head tanker project 23130 “Academician Pashin” began. Construction of the hull is completed to the level of the main deck.
“Launching is scheduled for late November. The vessel is being built, below the main deck everything is built, ship main engine is being installed. Most of the equipment has already been purchased for the tanker,” the source of the company said, adding that the work is carried out according to plan.

These are significantly smaller (14k tons) than the 3 large resupply vessels operated by IN currently (all over 24k tons)

It seems a modern version of the Dubna class light fleet oilers

These ships (Project 23130) are tiny compared to the Deepak class fleet replenishment tankers of the IN (the latest replenishment tankers inducted). The IN was interested in 40,000 ton state of the art FSSs, 5 relatively small tankers from Russia do not seem to make much sense, a similar class could easily be made in India.

But the point is they do not give anything for free, you will have more drones over your heads, more Gwadar, shamsi abottabad etc etc. Even Saudis will not consult you before including you name in their army.

Point is .. There are no more drone strikes on Taliban - we are droning them with our own UCAVs.
Gwadar and CPEC are good for Pakistan and the region.

China will be a head, but the IN will be in top 5 or even 3 for sure. The IN is laying a good foundation, what is happening now is nothing compared to the developments down the line.

Even their quality will be of the best. They have a bigger and expanding budget, plus their threat perception comes from the US and allies.

I'm not so sure about that, they are having to work in isolation in both R&D and training- the exposure India is able to get from leading nations is invaluble and whilst it is one thing to have high end kit it is quite another to operate it safely and effectively. The Cold war showed what an isolated nation with little accountability could do or the limitations therein.
