Did i said ever that I need to learn Chinese so that I can use it here in this forum..

It would be great to learn another language. Why do you want to learn Chinese? Just curious.

Of course mandarin is the most widely spoken language in the world. Knowing more languages won't do any harm. Moreover we Indians need to learn at least 3 languages in schools (Native language, Malayalam in my case, National language Hindi and of course English.). I have some free time now. I'm trying to learn some Spanish and French. May be some Chinese too

Chinese is the prospective language next to which is Spanish. One Pakistani brother even claimed he will send his children to learn Chinese as second language.

it takes you 10 years to get the point where you can read Chinese articles. it is a completely different language.

not kidding. I started school at the age of 6, as a native speaker, I couldn't understand most articles until 10. as a second language, it does take you 10 years.

It's not that everybody has IQ like you. They can learn as per their abilities.

yes, we do learn lots from our own coutry's history. btw what make you so exciting? china did lost Hongkong to UK, Qingdao to Germany, and Port Arthur to Russia, and give some rights to western coutries to exercise trades in several provinces. Nationalists' republic and Communist government drive them away by force and succeeded to keep the territory legacy from the old empire,

Kevin Rudd also thought that it is good investment to learn Mandarin, but look what happened to his hacked files and then to his requests for release of Rio Tinto executives. Going by his recent actions and change in labour government on mining rights to chinese companies, does not look that he still thinks the waste as a good investment. Or does it?

BTW: your memory doesnt serve you well. And CCP has indeed kept the legacy from the old EMPIRE by not allowing any rights to its citizens.But then, the world does seems rosy through the RED tinted glasses your govt have put on your eyes. Taiwan and chinese mainland comprise China, no single coutry in the world deny that. Taiwan call itself "Republic of China", we call ourselves "PRC". Taiwan issue is the aftermath of 1945-1949 chinese civil war, nationalist govt lost the war and retreat to its last province Taiwan. Although the war is theorethically hold on to date but we made peaceful declaration 30yrs ago, both sides are seeking a peaceful resolution to this issue despite discrepancies of ideologies and historial hatre. prepare homework before talking something you don;t understand.
