What's new

I hate my current class

@Nihonjin1051

Look at this way. You're conducting regression analysis every day in your life. The relationship between the velocity of a car and it's ability to hit you while crossing the road. Prediction of response to infer causal relationships between seemingly invariant variables.

profound. I never thought if it that way, @kbd-raaf !

i'm studying how to get rid of this headache ! lol

you're one of those folks that love math eh? :o:

please please tell me about regression equation, bhai @rockstar08 !

Bhai @SouthDesi , please don't remind me. Pursuing this Ph.D program i think was both a blessing and a curse. A curse in that i will be probalby 31-32ish when i finish. :hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:...

after reading this Equation , i feels like a pregnant women in her 7 months :bad::bad:

Maths is beautiful. :D

:o::o::o::o: out of the class ... now

Linear Regression was my favorite topic. Just Kidding - It was boring stuff but i have taken only basic Statistics/Probability course in my undergrad CS so it's probably much easier then what you're studying right now. I did take two Algorithms course during my undergrad and they are my favorite courses because we studied so many algorithms and came up with our data structures and also our Prof introduced us to competitive programming and for almost 1 year i was always busy solving problems.

That's what I admire about Computer Science folks, Software Engineering, because you guys are able to implement the theories into your line of work, its applicability is...readily observed. Unfortunately for my line of work, its all in theoretics, and application to never-ending literature review.

What is your field of work?

Any theoretical quantum physicists in the forum? I can guess his/her frustration at the end of the day.

Use Excel.

Estimated regression line Y=a + bX

Excel formula
Solve for "a":
=intercept(dependent variable, independent variable)

Solve for "b":
=slope(dependent variable, independent variable)

Problem solved.:smart:

arigadou gozaimasu @Rent - senpai !

ot: i'm slowly getting used to ibm spss. ever tried that program before ?

theoretical physics , you say? btw, if you're into theoretical physics, i recommend reading some of the works by Dr. Gregory Ryskin of Northwestern University, he's big into the Methane Blast Gas Theory. pretty cool stuff.
