Just being reading up on this euro canard.

One thing stood out the RCS of the new gripen ng is 1/10th of the
F16 AND LOWER THAN BOTH rafael & typhoon.#

I just have to point u out .Gripen C/D is equivalent to our JF17 Thunder.
and we have disscussed in detail tht JF17 Block II is going to be almost equal t Gripen NG. so we actually dont need this plane .

J10 is Medium multi role fighter ,and gripen is light multirole fighter just like our JF17 .

In the next indo pak face off regardless of size or scale i can gurantee USA will not rush supplies or parts for F16/F16/52 cause USA * AND INDIA will be at least on good terms and more likely very close.

This was not the case in 1971 & 1965 WEN usa GAVE 100% backing.

Sweden wil remain neutral

Gripen makes sense

IF PAF goes J10 it becomes 80% chinease air force.

Gripen NG is far more advanced than both Thunder and J10. And they are giving 100% TOT.

Its cheap at under $50m each

We need J10 for Air Role they will be in same league of F16 (more or less).

The Gripen will be hit with sanctions as well. I dont see TOT for Pakistan at the moment. So JF17 is the better bet.

The Gripen was already evaluated by PAF and rejected because at large it is a modular fighter like our JF17 using components from various sources and secondly it uses General Electric F414G engine which is an offshoot from superhornet engine program. The ToT offer is just a sales pitch by swedes because Pakistan still wont be able to manufacture its engines, weapon system and avionics locally.


Unless Grippen can be extensively modified to accecpt a RD93 or WS13 engine and third parties aggree for avionics and weapon system ToT, it is not a feasible solution.

PAF Air Chief has already stated Pakistan is not getting J-10B but an even advanced version of that. With specific radars and fire control, J-10B will knock JAS 39 out of the sky like mosquitos. The aim with J-10 is to counter the Indian MMRCA/SU30s. JF-17 future blocks can compete or out perfrom Gripen. If you look closely JF-17 resembles Gripen design.

Pakistan shouldn't go for Gripen because it's gonna cost lot of money, and we have already invested in Chinese systems like JF-17, J-10 and AWACs.

What do you mean by "....operates on runways..."???? I mean where else do you expect them to operate from? Your backyard?

You should refer to the JF-17 Farnborough airshow thread.

People clearly said that the Gripen sales people were asked that everything in Gripen is being offered in JF-17s. So why the high cost? The guy was speechless.



Also, by just using composites you cannot reduce the RCA. Radar waves are electromagnetic waves which can detect even composites easily. Because the overall size of JF-17 is smaller than F-16 with Engine blades hidden and shorter tail fin, it is bound to have smaller RCA than f-16

hey if we want a new aircraft then we will go to 100+ J-10 as it will be much cheaper to acquire as well as to maintain the aircraft. And the tech is as hi as Grippen NG's and it will not be known to anyone.....................
