Gripen has many components that are American so even if Swedes are neutral when it comes to spare parts supply, the US is still in the picture.

PAF Air Chief has already stated Pakistan is not getting J-10B but an even advanced version of that. With specific radars and fire control, J-10B will knock JAS 39 out of the sky like mosquitos. The aim with J-10 is to counter the Indian MMRCA/SU30s. JF-17 future blocks can compete or out perfrom Gripen. If you look closely JF-17 resembles Gripen design.

Pakistan shouldn't go for Gripen because it's gonna cost lot of money, and we have already invested in Chinese systems like JF-17, J-10 and AWACs.

In the next indo pak face off regardless of size or scale i can gurantee USA will not rush supplies or parts for F16/F16/52 cause USA * AND INDIA will be at least on good terms and more likely very close.

This was not the case in 1971 & 1965 WEN usa GAVE 100% backing.

euro.usa/chinease would be a better more balanced mix.

Even JFT can do it.....we can buy Swedish AESA....they wont refuse it as they know that we will not buy ACs for sure...so for them simple AESA is also a lucrative deal as "something is better than nothing" so why to buy a whole body and stuff when we dont need it....if they dont offer PAF their AESA.....then PAF, like anyother customer will move to another shop......its fairly simple. btw FYI PAF was reportedly actively looking for Vixen 1000 AESA (upon which NG aesa will be developed)

THE SWEDES are offering 100% TOT to indians.

The indians are already decided with the F18 SUPER HORNETS. and feel gripen is too similar in size and profile to tejas mk2 and will not buy this beauty.

They were also offering 100% ToT to brazil as well and that too just for 36 ACs....Pakistan was also offered a ToT....Unless you cant power your AC with 100% ToT...where would you use this AC....as a ground based interceptor/Strike aircraft?

at half the price of the typhoons & rafaels and 100% TOT the gripen would be the ideal 4.5 generation fighter for PAF hers why

No! thanks. A security relationship with Western countries that are essentially do not subscribe to an independent foreign policy is a huge mistake for Pakistan - even these F16 are a mistake, but it is understandable in the sense that it keeps our "friend" at bay.

A relationship with China is not about dependency, the Chinese abhor that, rather, if you look at how the Chinese and Pakistani relationship has evolved, it is about helping Pakistani industry and know how stand on it's own feet - this is more important than any Western system.

In the short, medium and long term, it is not India but through India that the West will continue to express it's civilizational hostility towards Pakistan and what it represents. Sad but true. So, Pakistan has to prepare to face this hostility.

^^u can discuss the 'pros & cons' of the gripen, the fact is that it has NOT been offered to pakistan by the swedes. gen. musharraf (the darling of the west) could not convince the swedish govt and came back with only the Erieye deal (erieye being a categorised as non-lethal system).
